They are definitely doing teams and shit. They're just being the Antonio Brown of their respective team and running the team into the ground.

I Do NOT want Matt Gaetz taking off his suit on the floor of the House....

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Should've never capped the house

To understand how far we are now from where House representation was in the past. In 1800 there was less than 5.5mm US citizens. At that time they had about 150 reps in the house....

(1800) 5.5mm/150 = 36,667 people for each rep

(2020) 332mm/437 = 759,725 people for each rep

Here are the 1900 numbers

76.3mm/386 = 197,668

I think this is a real problem that needs to be addressed. The capping of the house has also likely led to less political diversity in the country. That comes to mind when you consider how close this country came to making Bernie and Trump the candidates for both parties in 2016.

I applaud the republicans that won't just fall in line. They ain't doing teams and shit. That's what we all hold in high regard here, right?

The saying used to be:

Democrats fall in love

Republicans fall in line

Dems had the split with the Bernie Sanders "Berner's" back in 2016 and then there was the love affair with Obama since 2004's DNC Convention speech ..........while Republicans marched in lock step in their crusade for their few hot button issues.

Still think this holds for the most part...........just because democrats have a much wider / broader voter base and with that comes all the various policy issues........while republicans basically run on few policies other than abortion & guns using nothing but fear & scare tactics to gin up their base to fall in line & vote R

Seems the cult type following that trump created has carved out a new faction within the republican party that is hard line right wing & they aren't going to compromise with anyone not fully on their sudeo fascist path

McCarthy should eventually use the nuclear option or give the Dems some of committees for enough votes to become speaker. Either way would make for an interesting 2 years.

What 'nuclear option'?

There's a debt ceiling authorization coming up within three weeks. Committees can't meet. Incoming members can't get into their offices. They have not been sworn until there is a Speaker.

The Magat holdouts have been given plum Committee assignments and their investigations but they want more. Notably the ability for a single House Member to challenge the Speaker. McCarthy and his Caucus won't budge on that because you will constantly be having Speaker battles instead of Legislating.

These Magats simply want to wield bigger sticks than their numbers would indicate.

Who ever gets the high vote wins the speakership. The 20 hold outs would have to vote for McCarthy or let Jeffries be the new speaker of the house.

I agree McCarthy has already given them more than they should have power to do. AOC already floated the idea of some Democrats voting present in exchange for some chairmanship. I’d prefer that than given in more. I’d kick the 20 out of every committee and take away all the concessions they made to them if they have to negotiate with Democrats.

Doesn’t making Bernie the nominee prove that there is great diversity?  He isn’t even a Democrat.

He wasn’t the nominee. Precisely because he wasn’t a “proper” democrat.

I think there is more political diversity within the populace. I don’t think it is properly represented within the parties. With more seats there is room for that on the left and the right.

Or maybe because he is not even a member of the party. He really shouldn’t even be eligible to run for their nomination.
