Hard one for me...

Would usually choose Croatia over Argentina.

But, I choose Messi over Croatia.

Agreed. Too bad both teams couldn't win. But Messi has long been one of my all-time faves so here's hoping Argentina prevails over either France or Morocco.

With you there, I was going to go for either team over the winner of tonight's game anyway.  Never could stand France and I'm still a bit bitter about how Morocco played and parked the bus against Spain (even though I know it's a sound strategy from their pov).

Really hoping Messi finally brings home the trophy for Argentina now.

The wife of soccer journalist Grant Wahl said Wahl's death last week while covering the World Cup was due to an undetected aortic aneurysm and said there was nothing suspicious about his death.

"Grant died from the rupture of a slowly growing, undetected ascending aortic aneurysm with hemopericardium," Dr. Celine Gounder wrote Wednesday on Wahl's Substack. "The chest pressure he experienced shortly before his death may have represented the initial symptoms. No amount of CPR or shocks would have saved him. His death was unrelated to COVID. His death was unrelated to vaccination status. There was nothing nefarious about his death."

just a friendly reminder that your body can fail catastrophically with no warning and no fix. ugh

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

No where for tourists in Hallstatt (little town in Austria) to watch the game unfortunately. However, our bartender told us about a "locals only" bar where we can catch it. Hopefully I'm not drugged and kidnapped and sold into human trafficking (I am quite dashing I must admit) and get to watch a good game! Go Morocco?

If you run across this guy, you’d better listen to him.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

France with a goal in the 5th minute. I actually think this bodes better for Morocco as they’ll be more aggressive for the remainder of the match.

Morocco we’re definitely the more aggressive but they lack attacking quality. France CB’s Varane and Konate were too tough to break down for them.

Entertaining game.

Understatement of the year. That was an amazing final match. You knew France would come back and once they did the final 45 min was relentless. The shootout is, obviously, very anti-climatic but even it was intense.

Well what an amazing final. Glad the GOAT Messi got his World Cup trophy. But this unfortunately signals the end to our trip. It was pretty damn fun watching games and drinking beers with locals throughout Europe for the past 5 weeks. Wish Spain and Germany would have done better, but it was still an amazing experience.
