Easy for me to say I guess but the Netherlands coach used a keeper who had zero international experience until the World Cup and it showed on the penalty kicks.

The World Cup can sometimes be tedious but I can't recall how long it's been since two NFL playoff games on the same day produced the kind of drama we saw today. England-France figures to be the same tomorrow. Maybe even Portugal-Morocco although I have a feeling the latter side is going to succumb to the pressure of the knockout round.

Last years divisional round Sunday?

Rams 30 Bucs 27. Brady leads the defending champs back from a 27-3 deficit to tie the game. Stafford goes the length of the field in 40 seconds to set up the game winning fg as time expires.

Chiefs 42 Bills 36 in overtime. Allen and Mahomes combine for 700 yards and 7 TD’s. 25 points in the final two minutes. Mahomes magic in 13 seconds. Buffalo never sees the ball in OT.

The conference championships the next week was no slouch either. Bengals come back from a 3 score deficit to beat the Chiefs on the road. The Rams come back from 10 down in the 4th quarter.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Also, why have shootouts, what a stupid way to decide a game. It’s like the NBA having a free throw shooting contest in OT. Just keep playing until someone makes a goal. 

You would have to do it a couple days later. By the end of extra time a player that has played the whole game has run 8-9 miles.

Yeh, but that was football. National not global. Lol. 

Today was incredible, but we could scour the history of 20th and 21st Century major sport and find many similar days/weeks.

Wow. Longtime soccer journalist and American Grant Wahl has died in Qatar while covering the world cup. He's been in the news for showing LGBT support and speaking out about migrant deaths while over there. Hoping his family can get the answers and support they deserve.

I saw a summary of his recent posts. He’d been complaining about feeling very unwell and had sought treatment at a clinic twice. In the account I read he fell ill in the media center at the game and received treatment immediately. After 20-25 minutes he as “transferred” to hospital. Not sure about the origin of the Uber part. Seems like a heart attack to me.
