It looked like maybe he was expecting the ball to be a pass to the guy(s) charging up the middle, but shouldn't he be tracking the ball better?  Maybe I just need to seek out the other angle.  This view almost seems like they're letting him score.

he was tracking the long ball moving to his right but the header deflected it behind him

He was tracking just fine.  But it was a great header, perfectly placed and struck hard, and until it leaves the attacker's head you don't know which way it is going.  Strictly reactionary.  Lean just a tiny bit the wrong way, and you are +++++ed.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

Oh, wow.  I'm an idiot.  When I watched it before, I thought the ball had bounced on the ground.  Didn't even see the header.

Well big game today.  If we are going to win we need to score.  To juice the attack we need Reyna playing.   Here is how I hope we line up

Goal keeper

Turner

Back 4:

Dest Carter-Vickers Ream Robinson

Diamond mid 

Tyler Adams 

McKennie.  Musah 

Reyna

Paired Strikers 

Weah   Pulisic 

 

Bring Wright Aaronson Zimmerman and Moore on as subs as needed

Would be nice if the coach was capable of changing things up formation wise.  Don't think he is unless he's been holding out for this opportunity. 

And don't bring in Moore ever again.  Hopefully the 2 FB's can  go the entire way.

Yep. And if needed, we have Joe Scally on the bench who is a regular starter in the top German league. Moore should never see the field again.

 

Bummed that Sargent isn't ready to go. Giving Ferrera his first minutes makes sense with how bad Wright has looked.

And I'm OK with no Gio. Odds are Christian won't be able to go 90, would much rather see Reyna come on than Jordan Morris

Van Gaal wants his teams to control the ball and dominate possession. Our midfield is good enough to thwart this strategy.

Our defense will be tested more than in previous games. In particular the left-winger Memphis DePay will be coming after Dest who is not a great defender.

Weah may have some success going after Blind. He’s very good technically but is not fast.

If we’re gonna win we need to score when we create chances.
