yes. let the hate flow through you. believe what the elitist talking head tells you i think instead of what, uh, i tell you i think. that makes you very smart.

I would guess that the 10,000,000 heat pumps needed would need to be put on a heavy fuel boat/truck from China.   Have you ever run a heat pump in a cold climate?

Nah Houston.

And you're good in a cold climate as long as you are above -13°F.

A very interesting video from a maritime historian that takes look at the current diesel shortage from a supply chain point of view.

Lack of Refinery Capacity | The Jones Act | Oil Company Profits & Russian Sanctions

He provides a great discussion using US Energy Information Administration charts/graphs.  It's almost like the situation is more nuanced that what we are led to believe...

Enjoy!

I always kinda thought that it would make sense for super cargo ships to be nuclear.

This is why they launched the "Say No to Drugs" campaigns.

You don't think building nuclear cargo ships will have any impact on the cost of diesel or gas? Did even watch the entire video? Especially the part about we're not short on diesel but greedy oil companies are exporting/shipping it to Europe where they can make bigger profits. How do you continue to justify Americans constantly getting beat up?

I mean, I hope nuclear cargo ships would impact the cost of diesel or gas. That is kind of the idea

So you’re saying the extream cost of building a nuclear cargo ship will somehow help with decreasing the price of diesel and gas and stop the greedy oil companies? Yeah, that should do it. How about addressing what's really going on. It was in the video that you seem to have not made it all the way through but decided to post something anyway.

Nuclear propulsion engines are some of our nation's mostly closely guarded secrets.  It would make sense, but won't happen anytime soon

I mean... yeah. we've done studies on this. A nuke powered ship costs between 150-200% of a diesel powered ship.

https://constructionphysics.substack.com/p/why-are-nuclear-power-construction-c3c

but.... and this is a massive but...

you never have to refuel. you can go high speed the entire time without spending additional fuel costs. If you can run 50% more runs because of that then you're approaching cost competitiveness.

ships burn ~ 190 million metric tons a year between diesel, heavy fuel oil, and light fuel oil. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1266963/amount-of-fuel-consumed-by-ships-worldwide-by-fuel-type/

that's about 20% the global demand for fuel oil. https://www.mordorintelligence.com/industry-reports/diesel-as-fuel-market

even a couple percent dip in global demand would be a massive help.

or maybe I just don't watch videos people post, which is something I've said repeatedly for over a decade lmao. I'll read a long ass article but I don't do youtube.

it's like I've looked at what it would take to get the gigantic cargo ships off diesel in the past and comment based on what I learned. weird!

if roman legionnaires could become the roman infrastructure boiz and also the legions, then the american navy could become the global shipping boiz and also the navy

Smells like communism.

I mean it makes sense but risk of espionage would be deemed too high IMO.

Well, you missed the part about diesel that was produced in the U.S. being shipped to Europe to make bigger profits and there's actually no shortage. But you go ahead and post something to make yourself feel better about your constant justifications while Americans continue to struggle.
