Craig Thompson's greatest achievement in running this conference was kicking YBU out ten years ago.

He kicked them out? I have a different recollection. I'm no BYU fan, but Hair would bend over backwards to have kept them or had them rejoin.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Nah, he kicked them out. Best decision he ever made. Earned every penny of his salary for that move.

I think it’s a culture clash is why

Familiarity breeds contempt as well, there are a lot of one horse towns in northern and western Wyoming where the two biggest buildings are the Temple and the Bar.

We also hate it when local kids like the Poppinga bros or Brett Keisel end up in Provo. We don’t produce a lot of D1 prospects  and it stings when we lose them.

Edit: In many cases BYU fans are our friends and even family, and it’s fun to give each other crap. At least that’s what’s it’s like out here in the sticks.

I like many of the Wyoming fans on the forum

Some are a little over the top with this stuff, however.

As far as the local kids going elsewhere, I'm not sure how many kids grow up dreaming of playing at Wyoming, but I think it would be hard to keep LDS kids that have opportunities in state.  I'm not well versed in how many D1 guys Wyoming puts out per year, but do they stick around or go elsewhere for the most part?

I want Wyoming to win, but same way I want them to win whenever they are playing.  I am ready to move on, so lets get this game over with.  This game has no more meaning to me than UNC or Tulsa and I actually wanted the Pokes to win the Illinois game more, but oh well.

Play well Pokes and remember your cups.

My recollection is that Craig Thompson killed the WAC in an (unsuccessful) attempt to retain BYU, bringing Nevada and Fresno State into the fold, and eventually Utah State and San Jose State, too.

It’s not surprising that a byu fan would make up a fiction to hide the well known truth.  Those teams were invited to prevent BYU’s ‘project’ that was directly aimed at stabbing BYU’s long time conference mates in the back to destroy the MWC.

They typically stick around unless they are 5* guys like that kid that went to Oklahoma florida . Just off the top of my head, the Bramletts, Logan Wilson, Harshman, Prosinski, Wendling, Austin Fort, Marcus Bailey (a lot less D1/1-A level basketball players per capita than football players for obvious reasons).

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

My condolences to the big 12.

I've yet to see anything on paper a decade later from you folks corroborating your story about BYU being the lynchpin that was behind the project and stabbing this league in the back. You'd think with FOIA requests you could find something at some point, yet I've seen nothing and ya'll still cling to this story like a tick on someone's ass.

It's just a football game, champ. It's not that serious.

Under Bohl there are have been like 4-6 scholarship players from Wyoming per year. Pretty good, I'd say. The Strattons from Cheyenne were dickheads (played at CSU)

BYU technically, but maybe not practically, isn't the government, and isn't FOIA-able.

Did you really need to provide another self example of the byu attitude of 'we do no wrong and are morally superior to everyone else'?

Once again - condolences to the Big 12.  The upside to the move is that there is likely less incentive for MWC teams to associate itself with and schedule byu.

Why are we still talking about the project? There are a myriad of more interesting reasons to root against BYU.
