So, if this was literally just a document retrieval mission, and there is no further investigation or charge or anything against trump, is that a good thing or bad thing?

Yes. Nothing really happening is a probable outcome.  That's usually the deal.

But...seems awful risky to just get some papers for the old archives.  Somewhere there's a threat to something large enough to warrant an action like this.

As usual, you guys can't grasp what is going on here.

Even if trump did something wrong, half of this country sees govt abuse of power...and that is an understament.  Another thread on this board talks about unifying the country? Are you guys fn kidding us?   the DC establishment is telling half the country to go f themselves.

The FBI has been spying on trump. his campaign and presidency for about 8 years, does anyone think they didn't know what he has?

Why did they not just subpoena the info?   Past presidential staffers gotb caught red handed taking classified stuff hidden in their clothes...why were they not prosecuted?

The DC establishment has gone too far.   If trump is such a crook, why not let the voters decide?  The elite fears this and if they  manage to take a choice away there will be hell to pay.

jack

you don't think trump "did something wrong"?

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

That would not make any sense. See the tweet thread by @retrofade on the previous page. FBI/Watergate journalist/historian.

Again to reiterate, these files better be more than just files that may be a politically damaging or embarrassing misdemeanor.  Better be a national security issue that puts lives at risk.  If it is, I am fine with it.  But, it better be.

Possibly. f) looks very interesting.  Two months ago the DOJ visited M-a-L. Top counterintelligence guy present.  Documents were padlocked upon DOJ request.

So what I hear you say is that “if enough people want a person to be president they are above the law”, “ if enough people in a country will be upset that a politician they like is being held accountable we can’t hold that person accountable.”

I agree with you that a large portion of the country is going to be upset with this.

But that’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works!

Yea. But better or worse than prosecuting him just for having the documents and not for what's in the documents.

I still think this is a bad move unless there's something bananas in those boxes, which I just think is unlikely. But if those men in suits just showed up to take classified docs that Trump refused to turnover, and this was basically a repo mission, while a bad look, I think it's not as precedent setting.

But who knows. We'll see soon enough. Actually, we probably won't.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

No doubt, per much reporting, TFG is guilty of violating:

Lol @thelawlorfaithful being like.  This are "his documents,  his generals,  etc."

These are property of the government/people!

That’s not what I’m being like. You will regret this. And you may regret it a lot sooner than you think.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

That is not my point.   The whole process is so politicized and divisive... it now doesn't matter if he did or not.

Even Trump went against his base when he didn't go after HRC.  He knew it wouldn't be good for the country.

Half the country sees this as a DC power grab. This move is intentionally divisive as hell and is meant to intimidate and shut one side up.

I don't doubt it. But prosecuting him for just those is more trouble than it's worth.
