GE was apparently yuge in Europe mid-seventies through the late eighties. I have a few of their albums other than Moontan and although nothing else is as good as Radar Love or Twilight Zone, they had several other very good songs.

Here's some trivia: L.A. band Legs Diamond toured Europe with GE circa 1980. According to LD's front man, they traded off being the headliner but tended to frequently get together post-headliner performance because they got along famously. LD's front man said the GE guys were the biggest drinkers they ever saw. No beer or wine with those guys. They just slugged whiskey straight out of the bottle. (The interviewer didn't ask whether they were doing lines BEFORE they performed.)

Steve Poltz as well as his old band the Rugburns are a San Diego treasure. So many great songs they put out in the 90's and later - Gold's Gym Guy, Hitchhiker Joe, Beautiful Day, Single Life, Rub Somebody (The Right Way) - who else could release a gospel song about jerkin' off? Anyways, there's a series of Steve Poltz interviews on YouTube that alt-country musician Otis Gibbs conducted recently that are absolutely awesome. Give 'em a watch when you have some time, you won't be disappointed. Here's one with a long, funny story about meeting John Prine...

Otis does better YTs than singing.  lol

Great story. I think Todd Snider first met Prine by doing a driving gig, too.

Edit: I figured it a good time to listen to a little of old John.  This from his live Sessions at Studio 54 a song he once said he wanted to write one so sad it would sound pretty.

They're Dutch and anything goes in Amsterdam. Golden Earring lasted 60 years (1961-2021) which is amazing for any band. Radar Love is a great song to listen to when your driving.

So many great Prine songs. That one's on my rotation. a few more of my favorites of his: Morning Train, It's a Big Old Goofy World, Fish and Whistle, Long Monday, In Spite of Ourselves. So many others, I could go on and on. This list is from a mostly blues/reggae/rock/jazz guy who pretty much tries to avoid anything country, though I know John's music is probably closer to folk.

There's a couple more entertaining Poltz interviews talking about meeting Bob Dylan, and about his ex-girlfriend in SD, Jewell.

Dylan's noting of Prine's Proustian writing always comes to mind.  John just had it.  I think he had a broader scope than others in his era, but I think just enjoy.
