Good stuff on this (edit: previous) page.  I listened to a number of the previous set of posts.

Listening to a Todd Snider album from the '00 outside w/a Deschutes pilsner.  Final track:

Yard and garden work, nap, and an hour-plus on the fan bike listening to James McMurray ('21 album mostly).  Now, on this first real summer weather night got the boom on listening to my deepest roots, Jerry Jeff Walker.   50 years ago JJW recorded the cult album, Viva Terlingua.  Rolling Stone did a 45th anniversary article on it in '18.  The first track from an old/new recording was "Little Bird".

On his 1968 Mr. Bojangles album, Jerry Jerry recorded it new.  My favorite version of the song comes five years later on '73s Viva Terlingua.  My older Colorado State U. cousin introduced me Jerry Jeff on a weekend trip to the 1974 Spokane World Fair.  He said he was recently then with a couple of co- workers driving across Wyoming drinking beers and pounding on the dash on the semi-drunken refrain to "Little Bird".  Still my favorite sad drunken sing-a-long;

I agree, opening riff had me going……then fell flat.

I’ve been getting into gospel lately.

Apparently the Handler’s were short a singer to make it a quartet, so I guess ‘The Dick’ is filling that spot. Certainly ‘The Dick’ isn’t filling Mrs. Handler’s spot because she’s there. No word on who ‘The Dick’ belongs to of the 2 males, or which Dick sings the best. Let’s just hope ‘The Dick’ isn’t the son’s and he doesn’t try to fill Mrs. Handlers spot with it while she’s there, because that wouldn’t be very Christian. I don’t know, I’m confused. Maybe @SAMO has a better take on this situation.

Heading out to Denver in the morning.  Got tickets to see Jason Isbell at red rocks.

This will be the third year in a row we have gone. One of my favorite artists of the last decade.  Been a fan since the Drive-by Truckers days.

I like to listen to audiobooks doing yard work. It being springtime I always get on a bit of a baseball kick. I’d seen and heard this book referenced just about everywhere so I knew it must be good. But man, I didn’t expect this.

The premise on the page is interviews in the 1960’s with ballplayers from the turn of the 20th century at the end of their lives regaling about the past. The audiobook is the literal recordings of the interviews. I’ve never heard of anything like that.

That is one of so many great Townes' songs.  So, I put this one on.  I had the LP of Live at The Old Quarter back in the day.  Recorded and released in the '70s solo, acoustic set.

"We all got holes to fill
Them holes are all that's real.
Some fall on you like a storm,
Sometimes you dig your own.
The choice is yours to make,
Time is yours to take
Some dive into the sea,
Some toil upon the stone.
To live is to fly
Low and high,
So shake the dust off of your wings
And the sleep out of your eyes
Shake the dust off of your wings
And the tears out of your eyes."
