Reagan’s term 1 1982 midterm seems to have some economic parallels, but a lot different, too, so not sure how much it foreshadows? Far fewer safe districts then.

Redistricting following the ‘20 Census is going to play into the number of seats that change parties.  The trend to more safe seats and fewer competitive districts seems to have gone even further this cycle.  Add that to the ongoing trend of party/leaning polarization, and 2022 may not end up as bad for the Ds given the economic conditions simply because (considerably) less than 10% of CDs will be competitive.  Otherwise, we’d expect a 2010-like shake up.

One pending Supreme Court ruling may have a significant effect.  It’s probably the only thing that could move those safe by 3-5% seats to not safe.

Republicans in Texas flipped a majority Hispanic house district in the Rio Grande Valley last night. That can’t be a good sign for Democrats.

There is going to be wailing and gnashing  of teeth after the midterms when the Democrats finally realize they have lost the Hispanic vote.

They used to say Demographics is destiny and it would relegate the GOP to a permanent minority.

That was my first reaction but it is from the guys that got Cawthorn and their investigations turned out to be 100% true so I think this could be legit, as crazy as it sounds. LEts see if any other reputable news sources find anything.

If legitimate sources start reporting it I will believe it. I couldn't find any other sources reporting it after a search.

It just a picture of a news release though. I am very skeptical

I didn’t look at it too closely, but I saw that one county that is 84% Hispanic voted Republican. That is even after the shooting in neighboring Uvalde.

THe news release is real from the muckrakers PAC. THey have some screen shots of texts with one of their sources. It could still be bullshit but it just came out last night so I am sure no one else has had time to investigate their allegations. It could be bullshit but the release is real from the same people that took down cawthorn.

Those Border counties in Texas that are majority Hispanic are kind of a fascinating thing right now. They have been Deep blue counties for decades, and in 2020 they turned light blue, and Zapata County flipped red. The lower margins for Biden in these counties is why Trump held Texas.

There was a really interesting article about this in the NY Times after the last election

If she goes down for this I won't be disappointed at all though. She is certifiably insane.

It would be a crazy glorious scandal that could bring down several people if true including Ted Cruz.
