Prepare the lube Nevada adds Jarod Lucas

Recommended Posts

With McIntosh and now Lucas Alford has definitely plugged some holes, now lets see if he can get one more, perhaps a F to help take some of the load off Baker. Nevada still has two more scholarships to hand out, maybe save one for a mid year?

Jarod Lucas to Nevada we lose sherfield and Cambridge and re make our back court with 2 huge additions via the portal we will be in the mix next year at the top

You had the most talented team in the conference last year.  I'll wait and see if talent rules this year or if we have another UNLV scenario.

Agree, but we had some serious issues in our locker room and Alford decided to blow it up no leadership.

No the Pack was not the most talented team in the conference last season.   SDSU, CSU, BSU and Wyoming were all more talented..Not even close..

Can make an argument UNR's day 1 roster was easily Top-3 MWC talent-wise. Washington/Baker/Bramah/Cambridge/Sherfield  w/ the depth they had off the bench. Who had a more complete team than that? On paper there really isn't any weaknesses there...it was all locker room.

CSU/Wyoming were carried by their top 2 players. SDSU was the most athletic team in the conf but that's not saying much. BSU was probably the best but even they lost to Urvine and Bakersfield ffs.

8 teams had a more complete roster..

I have no idea how this new roster will work out and they still have 2 open slots but it was clear last season's team never gelled.  Nice guys but not tough at all..

Nevada has a fairly typical mid major roster most seasons*..If the pieces fit they can win some games.  Changes had to be made..

*Muss had a couple of monster teams but that is the exception.

a decent get for the Pack! yeah  great.

...but Lube?

What was the Beavers record last year?

What about the year before when they made the elite 8 and Lucas was a key part of that

Good addition. Maybe a tad of an upgrade over Cambridge offensively but probably a downgrade defensively.

With the addition of two guards who are used to playing starter minutes, does that mean that Nevada doesn't expect Sherfield to return?

I have no inside info but my guess is he won't be returning..

I’m not so sure Grant wasn’t asked to explore other opportunities because there’s something going on with the make up of the team. There is a “we need to recalibrate” feel and I get the sense Alford/Noodles were willing to play with lesser talent that wanted to run their system than deal with the situation Nevada was in last year.

They were all Alford guys.

Doesn't look good for Alford.

Alford deserves criticism and his share of blame but he is taking steps to remedy things.  Whether it will work or not is unknown at this juncture..

Any whispers from the Nevada program of what went wrong?

On paper; Sherfield, Cambridge, Baker, Washington and Blackshear seem like a pretty solid starting group.

Even with chemistry issues, seems like they would be top half of the conference.
