UNLV Roster 2022 - 2023…

Combine that with the past decade of history this program achieved, or really lacked to achieve and we won’t get those top 100 players.

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

Not really, CKK is the first coach since Spoonhour to struggle with bringing in serious HS talent. Rice, Menzies, Totz (I’ve read too many Qwelish posts) spent YEARS developing their recruiting chops and was able to pull in talent @ unlv.

The amount of resources and assets UNLV has., it doesn’t take years to build a contender. Especially in this new transfer/NIL climate. TJO just took a 4 win program to the S16, in one season and his school is surrounded by cornfields in bum+++++ Egypt.

Time will tell if unlv is serious about CBB or if it is just all about promoting “valuetainment” with used car salesmanship tactics to locals/students.  Given the amount of cash they were sitting on in the last search (TJO buyout and a major donation) only to end up slashing the coaching salary by 400k says a lot.

Again, there must be a lot of skepticism from recruits about CKK’s resume and state of the program.

They’ve put out a lot of offers for 23 and 24 class. Not sure there’s interest in playing for a head coach that isn’t established and/or they know they won’t make much at UNLV.

I know they won't get the top guys but I atleast expected them to have a chance with high upside guys outside of the top 100. Guys like Shawn Simmons, David Tubek, Keyon Kensie, ect. Kaden Cooper has blown up and now has offers from every blue blood plus Gonzaga so he's out.

The top brass at UNLV still has the Maxson Mentality.....they prefer UNLV basketball got dragged down to mediocrity because they hated the reputation of UNLV only being nationally known as the "Vegas basketball school" it detracted from their spotlight. Even though UNLV would be *nothing* academically or athletically without UNLV Basketball becoming a national and cultural sensation for the 20 years Tark was there. How many students would've picked UNLV as their school in the 70s, 80s, and 90s if it wasn't for watching the Runnin' Rebels on TV? What about donors and alumni?  Like you said, they had countless opportunities to pony-up and invest in bringing UNLV Basketball back to the national spotlight and they always took the cheap way out that produced zero results...and they wonder why the school remains BROKE D*CK

$4 million donor gift and a $3 million buyout.....$7million bucks to make a REAL PLAY....a INVESTMENT that could result in countless millions if done right and what was ace up their sleeve? The feather in their cap for UNLV Basketball?! Hire baby Krugs and stuff all the money plus an extra $400k in their fking mattress.

Just on principle alone, such a low-risk and fiscally responsible move in LAS F*CKING VEGAS should be doomed to fail.

Kevin is going to be a great coach at UNLV.

He will get the job done! We are in good hands with a Rebel Runnin’ the program.  We will return to our rightful spot and with this impending PAC-12 move we are going to become one of the nations elite.

Think of how fun it will be to play PAC-12 Basketball Tournament on the STRIP with UNLV fans and Arizona and Utah!  It is going to be wild.

New NBA Arena coming soon that UNLV can play huge Non Conference games vs Big Boys.

We will be ranked and in the dance every year.  Vegas will be alive.  Runnin’ Rebels will be the cheer.

I want to believe what you're saying, but when you defend Kevin all I hear is this right now:

"They will flee before us. The MWC infidels. Indeed, concerning the fighting waged by the heroes of Runnin' Rebel Socialist Pac-12 Party yesterday, one amazing thing really is the cowardice of other MWC forces. we had not anticipated this."

"SDSU, the louts, the Laramie dogs, all will be besieged between Las Vegas and other towns north, west, south and west of Las Vegas....Now even the MWC command is under siege. We are hitting it from the north, east, south, and west. We chase them here and they chase us there."

"We made them drink poison last night and Kevin Kruger's recruits and his great assistants will give the MWC a lesson which will not be forgotten by history. Truly."

Remember they lucked into Lon Kruger who was their 4th or 5th choice to succeed a geriatric coach that was hired to do nothing special. Then after some success under Lon they gave him a mediocre raise, but one where he can earn some attendance bonuses.

There’s always big name coaches that would love to coach at UNLV but UNLV never puts in the effort to get one or keep one. Leaving Pitino’s wife on the sidewalk at McCarran, not taking care of Beards contract to the board, letting Cronin go without a contract, rebuffing George Karl, turning down Archie Miller, and on and on.

There’s some names I’m leaving out but bottom line, UNLV isn’t a place where it takes years to rebuild into a contender. A lot of people know this, there’s just too many advantages at UNLV to just be a perennial 18 win club that is fielding p5 scraps.

All I know about TJ “cheese” burger is what he did here and he was absolute garbage here!  Now that he is at a bigger school, all his turds here don’t get polished all of a sudden.  He didn’t do a good job here and was halfway out the door a season before he actually left, cheeseburger was and still is a clown.  I look at what he did here and that wasn’t much!

Right!  Anybody who points to the 3 stooges of Otz, Menzies, or Rice as anything but utter failures for UNLV is either a troll pulling our chains or completely insane and out of touch.

His only redeeming value was his $3mil price tag. Even then we only broke even and wasted 2 years.

UNLV’s non-conference basketball schedule isn’t finalized just yet, but rest assured Kevin Kruger is working on it.

If they had some really good opponents lined up, like Duke or Kentucky or Gonzaga, we would know about it.  The schedule will be shitty. 💩

there's gotta be some names on the schedule otherwise they wouldn't be pumping it up as a NCAA Tourney caliber resume.....the only semi-decent games on that schedule were NIT Dayton and a probable match-up against b10 doormat Minnesota.

That might be copium on my part but that would be friggin ridiculous

Kevin Kruger thinks playing Southern Illinois and Minnesota qualifies as a good MTE.
