It was an Institutional cover up that started in the FB program and went all the way to the top of the University.

Talk about your lack of Institutional control.

The NCAA is not the law. They are a governing body for college athletics with their own set of rules that everyone involved signed up to play by.

What went on at Penn State involved State and Federal law breaking. Much bigger situation than the NCAA rules, tried in an entirely different system.  Penn State broke societal rules. The people involved all paid a price in some form our other. Some not as much as they should have but they all had to deal with Law and Punishment.

The term lack of institutional control is used when a school is breaking multiple “NCAA rules” that they agreed to abide by by being a member institution.

My recommendation to Memphis is this.  Do not dig a hole through failure to comply with the investigation.  Admit the faults proven (or not) and accept the consequences.  Then move along.  Comply.  Institutional irresponsibility is a major problem.  Ask SMU all about that.

Comply with the investigation.  Admit the faults.  Accept the probationary matters.  Move along.

Was it not prospective recruits that were being sexually abused ?

JFC. When an Atheltic Department and the University provide cover for sexual predators, they should not be allowed to participate at the D1 level.

The NCAA only cares about making sure the Blue Bloods remain the Blue Bloods

Again no NCAA rules were broken during that just like Baylor and Michigan St situations as well. There higher level issues involved, which some were dealt with. And the NCAA could not, and they knew this, stop their program, that would be up to the school.

With Memphis pretty much what will happen is probably accept the self violations put them on probation maybe lose some scholarships for a couple of years and then move on. I think the worst thing they probably could get is vacating some wins

So, an Institutional coverup beyond the Athletic Department and into the top end Admin doesn't qualify as lack of Institutional Control ?

The only Institutional Control USC FB has ever had to deal with was the LA Times.

The NCAA is a farce. Giving the Death Penalty to SMU for recruiting violations and slapping the Penn States and Baylors on the wrist for providing cover to sexual predators.

No it doesn't because the NCAA is only a governance with sports, they have no power over anything else. They can't tell a school how to do something outside of the athletic department; same with Michigan St situation. NCAA has a very narrow or small enforcement area which is sports. That's it nothing else. IF Penn St decided to sue when they got their penalties they would have had a decent chance of getting those tossed out of court for that same reason but they did that agreement with Penn St so they wouldn't sue.

People don't like it but that is what NCAA is, anyone looking for anything more will have to look elsewhere because NCAA can't do anymore that that.

Recruiting stars dont win games.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Boise State fans still don’t know why Akot left. IMO it was either a rift with the coaching staff or NIL money. He was roommates and friends with Doutrive who got booted from the team which possibly played into his decision.

I don’t think he played to his full potential at Boise State, partly due to injuries. Playing him at point guard was a mistake. His handle and court vision weren’t the best. His shot is unorthodox and inconsistent. If Memphis plays him at the two or three he should do well. He’s bigger than most twos and too quick for most threes. His defense is an asset. He has high character, is very intelligent, and a good team player.

Good luck to the kid.

They sure as f*ck do. You know why UNC, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, Michigan St, Louisville, and Ohio St account  for like 65% of Final Fours since 1985? Stacked with upper tier 4 and 5-STARS. Top-15 recruiting classes year-in and year out.

You know why programs like BYU have the record for most NCAA Tournament appearances (30) without a single Final Four appearance?  Yeah, they don't get 5-star talent. Plenty of seniors with loads of experience though! That's what wins games in the dance. lol. get real

Anyway, this is the year for Hardaway to get his shit together otherwise get filed into Dave Rice territory.
