Transfer Portal is open

Did you not read the part of his post that said "unless you got a wavier."? The NCAA approved a waiver that was applied for by the school after his father suffered multiple strokes and was in hospice care in LV.

You’re missing my point.  Athletes should be allowed to transfer wherever they want, especially within conference (without penalty) if they feel that’s what’s best for them.

Only fans of loser schools advocate for those rules because they need help to keep the ones they have.

One thing that will likely result from transfer portal, teams outside of the power 5 conferences will likely begin to have better ‘recruiting classes’ on paper. This is because P5 programs will begin holding back a few more scholarships for transfer portal acquisitions.  The net result might be that lower level division 1 teams ultimately become development teams for premier power 5 programs.  This could be moving to more of a European soccer model.

SJSU picked up a transfer OT from Washington State.  Player they were in on out of HS coming back home.

Getting admitted into schools become an issue then.

Let's just call a spade a spade.  No one really cares about these lesser bowls anymore.

I get admissions are an issue.

I feel for a kid who sees his HC, Coordinator, and position Coach skedaddle for something better.

The remaining kids who are playing  care, as do their families. For 95% of Seniors it's the last ball game they will play.

It matters.

Kevin Olekaibe didn’t have to sit out.

By the logic of some on here, it would be wrong for a non-athlete to transfer from UNR to UNLV and would need to incur a penalty.

Transferring to UNLV should be penalty enough for both athletes and non-athletes.

The Spartans have added two likely starters so far in QB Cordeiro and C Petersen.  I think they are still in the market for a RB.  I think they’d also like another WR and a Safety (the JC recruit they had flipped to Washington State) if they can fit them in.

Summary.
RB, WR, S still a want for SJSU.

Good D-line play and quality depth still a need.

Colorado State's Linwood Crump has entered the transfer portal.  He was a previous graduate transfer from Temple that has apparently been on an NCAA roster for 6 seasons now. Perhaps he qualifies for a medical redshirt for a 7th season.

FYI - Trey Smith who is finishing his career in Wyoming's bowl game played 7 seasons of college football (redshirt, medical redshirt, COVID year and 4 other seasons).

It's gotta be hard to develop a Diamond in the Rough for a year or two just to see them jump to a greener pasture.

What's the point of developing a kid when you can pluck them from other squads with the promise of a bigger NIL ?

College FB will become MLB. The wealthy schools will dominate even more by buying their players.

So sad.

Good for him to maximize his College playing days.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Absolutely. Take advantage of the free education and the college environment. Wyoming has a player (Jackson Marcotte) that has undergone two knee surgeries and attended law school this year.  He has 2 years of eligibility remaining. Presumably he will be able to obtain a law degree for free while playing for Wyoming over the next 2 years.

Sitting out a year to redshirt is not a "penalty".  IT's a common sense measure to insure what is happening to Nevada right now doesn't happen in the future.

Is Linwood Crump’s middle name Benjamin?

Making someone sit out a year is a penalty.  You’re a biased buffoon, and that’s why you say it isn’t.
