The last time UNLV beat a team ranked that high on its home court at the Thomas & Mack Center was in 1988 vs. then-No. 1 Temple, and the last time it beat a team ranked that high overall was in 2011 vs. then-No. 1 North Carolina at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas

Runnin’ Rebel legend Freddie Banks will have his jersey retired at halftime. Starring at UNLV from 1983-87 under Hall of Fame coach Jerry Tarkanian, Banks, who stayed home to play for the Runnin’ Rebels after attending Valley High School where he earned McDonald’s High School All-American honors, helped lead UNLV to the 1987 Final Four. He will be the 10th player in program history to have his jersey hung in the rafters at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The 2021-22 season marks the 39th year of Runnin’ Rebel basketball in the Thomas & Mack Center. UNLV has posted an all-time record of 513-137 (.789) in the arena since it opened in 1983

Rebs start into a tough 3 game series. UCLA and then road games against SMU 4-0 at home and San Francisco 7-0 overall. It could be a tough week but well worth the fight. UNLV GO! FIGHT! WIN!

Can't hurt the team when MWC play starts ---- would rather see Kruger play some decent teams - this year it could pay off nicely when MWC games start

weird...don't think he ever would have done well in Vegas

Its pretty crazy... as bad as UNLV has been the past decade, we technically had Chris Bird who made an elite 8 and nat'l title game with Texas Tech after he left, verrry nearly had Mick Cronin who just led UCLA to a Final 4, Lon Kruger who made a Final 4 after he left.... now if this turd Otz turns Iowa St into a power all the while UNLV has been a big pile of butt. Can't make this $hit up.

None of the crap from the past decade matters at this point. We have a fresh start with a talented motivated staff and players. It’s

GAMEDAY!

and a beautiful day at that. Heading down in a few hours to enjoy the game.

That’s an indication that WE are the problem!

He phoned it in in Vegas, never made any effort at all, especially in recruiting. For that matter he was probably recruiting to ISU all the time he was here, knowing Prohm's days were numbered.

Jerk.

I wholeheartedly agree with that, but Otz was TERRIBLE his 2nd year here in every facet of being a HC. now he already has two top 25 wins including a top 10 win the second he leaves?! Unbelievable.

Agreed. I thought he did a good job his 1st year and was really looking forward to the future after year 1. I don't follow recruiting that much so gave him the benefit of the doubt when he was recruiting all those D-II calibur bums.

Then year 2 comes around and everything  from roster building, culture, game planning, etc was just pathetic and embarrassing. F him. As mediocre as Rice and Marv were, at least they gave a crap and tried.

Anyway, couldn't be more pleased with the early returns from Kevin and this year team. Glad TJ is gone and wishing him the worst.

Maybe Otz inherited a better group of players at Iowa State.  Seems like he recruited like a turd at UNLV.  Give him time at Iowa State and maybe he will bring that program down with his recruiting as well.
