Muscadin missed slam sums the game up for UNM.  can't win them all, onto the next one

Actually missing the slam then stops playing and committing a turnover. House airballing

Game was similar to the Colorado game. Close throughout, but then the Lobos wore down in the end. Blame it on lack of experience, loss of focus, etc….but hopefully these moments help in the long run.

Lack of running an offense is what hurts the Lobos. House needs to play under control as the days of NMHU are done

Lobos we’re fine in the second half when House stuck to the perimeter and he let Mashburn take over. House is dangerous in a bad way when he asserts himself to get into the paint.  Mashburn was fantastic, Javonte Johnson had a solid and efficient performance.  Muscadine some really good and some really bad.

What happened to Jenkins?  Surprised he did not play more.

UNM played tough for 36 minutes then imploded.   House is an interesting one. Too much energy leading to poor decisions. Like the altercation at half court. Looked like House grabbed the UAB player by the arm and then took both players down trying to make it look like a foul on UAB. Trying to make fouls that aren't there by flopping around.  Just play ball. Mashburn is a baller when he gets going.

Rolled an ankle in practice. He subbed in the game, bricked two threes, then Pitino yanked him for good. I'm guessing the ankle is bothering him and that is why he couldn't find his jumper. Shame, because we really could have used his shooting tonight. He is a great shooter.

We looked ok tonight at times and competed, but UAB is just too big and strong for us down low and Walker absolutely murdered us. House also killed us the last 5 minutes by playing street hero ball and we went away from Mash who they couldn't stop, which was very frustrating to watch.

On to likely Towson tomorrow night, who I feel we should beat.

Ok, back from the arena at the Hard Roc...ok, the Virgin (and how weird is that).

House is a problem, but not necessarily in the way you point out. He does have his moments of hero ball, but more importantly, he's their heart and soul. When he's confident, team plays reasonably well. When he panics, as he did in the last 5? Game over.

Entire squad seems to have forgotten Mashburn at the end. He is simply the best player on the team and needs touches. A lot of that is on House, but not all.

Personnel wise the truth is UNM is playing without a 5. Muscadin, et al. are natural 4's. Jump shooters all of them and it shows. There's not a lot of battling going on down low. Strangely enough, UAB didn't take a lot of advantage of it. I'd of posted 55 til someone could stop him.

Learning experience, and another set of data points for Pitino. This isn't a Weir team. They're not going to contend for the title this year, but they'll win their share and cause at least one contender some heartache. On to tomorrow.

UAB out rebounded Los Lobos, 41-27. We’re in desperate need of a couple of legit 5’s!

See I think Javonte Jones is the best player on the team but needs more touches. Mashburn is good but very undersized.   House is a panicky lityle squirrel that forgets his team at the first glimpse of a rim.

Javonte may end up as the better player, but he's not there yet. Still want Mashburn with the ball in his hands at the end. Experience matters.
