Boise State @ San Diego State

Good for him, I have it on solid account he was not at $C.

Some are bitter he decommitted from SDSU- personally from what I know, I was happy.

From all accounts he has been a great teammate as a Bronco.  A good leader and mentor.

The guy initially reportedly verbaled to Duke but when Sam Darnold announced he was turning pro, Sears decommitted to USC. That was understandable since he's a SoCal guy.  However, after one year of suiting up for the Trojans and one very good game played, after USC brought in a transfer QB which some interpreted as putting Sears fourth on the depth chart, he bailed and sat out a year. He was then still coveted by a number of schools and verbaled to SDSU with the expectation of most fans he would be the starting QB. However, when Rocky Long announced his resignation, Sears seemingly disappeared with nobody hearing about him much less from him. Rumor had it he had been seen on the campus of another Right Coast P5 school and then shortly thereafter it was announced he had verbaled to Boise. Around the time of his verbal to SDSU there were also rumors he had a helicopter dad who had largely made his football decisions for him. Checking around, it appears he's now BYU age - meaning 23 - so maybe he's matured and is his own man. What you say suggests that's the case and I hope that's the case.

Albeit slowly, Boise's program has been diminishing in quality since 2013 and eventually they'll be back to where they were in the 1970s. Shit, NOW they've even got an offensive coordinator who wears a porn stache.

Brutal.

Absolutely Brutal.

Great Smack though.

So, he's looking at being a Grad Assistant and getting into the Coaching game ?

SDSU would be a top 10 team with Sears.

Sucked he would rather be the backup at Boise than the starter at SDSU but hard to blame him.  Telling your kids you played for Boise State is a much bigger brag than saying you were an Aztec...

As are many D1 athletes.  In HS, Sears owned Bachmaier.  He still lives there.

Sears and Bach are good friends.  The Sears fan boi's in our fan base annoyed me as much as anybody but he has been a good teammate, mentor and guy to have around.

It really is too bad he chose Boise over SDSU, or SDSU likely is in an NY6 game this year, after coming off a conference championship last year.  Conference could have used a really great team.  Sears would have made SDSU that, IMO.

I agree AND it was also great seeing him fail badly on Friday, too.  SDSU would be where Cincinnati is - if they had a good QB for the past three years.

Yep, but good QB's want nothing, at all, to do with SDSU for whatever reason.  Don't see that changing.

Therein lies the problem. It's looking better as this season ends, and hopefully Haskell solves this problem next year.

@Fowlhave you done the post game break down? I would be interested in seeing what our DC did in terms of pressure vs drop 8.

Appreciate the work you put in.

3-man rush - 8 plays (five of those were the last two drives) - 3 completions for 32 yards - 2 INTS (one was last play of the game) - 1 sack - 2 scrambles for 19 yards

4-man rush - 34 plays - 15 completions for 144 yards - 13 incompletions - 1 INT - 2 sacks -  3 scrambles for 17 yards

5-man rush - 10 plays - 4 completions for 36 yards - 4 incompletions - 1 sack - 1 scramble for 4 yards

We pretty much rushed four all game until the last two drives and were able to get results with it.  This is why, at least for this game, I don't get all of the grief directed toward Plough.  IMO the deficiency was the Boise OL.

Concur, top 5 Defense hammered them.

Our OMG Bad offense beat the tar out of their D through the air (a first all year).

Their OC I would trade (our POS) in a second.

While it does say alot about the overall talent level and Coaching to go 35 and 8 over three seasons without an FBS quality QB,

Don't go there. Please.

Rocky Long was the problem.  Who wants to play in the offense he ran at SDSU.

The Fr. Haskell for SDSU was pretty highly thought of.

Yet, he didn’t beat out, 2 very average at best QBs. Gives me some concerns looking to next year.

I wouldn't think it is concerning that a True Fr. doesn't beat out 2 5th yr QB's
