Plant based diets

Recommended Posts

I've done decently long term vegetarian stints.  I never really could stick to it, but it did give me some habits that I still have, like I'll buy fake chicken nuggets and sausage patties at the grocery store.  Just got used to it and I like them now.  We'll put crumbles in our white people americano tacos, too.  TBH I never felt any better going veggie. In fact, probably gained weight because I ate so much cheese and fried crap to substitute.

I always tell people going veggie, or mostly veggie, is easy. Vegan is hard. No cheese is hard.

Anybody here do a plant based diet including dairy and eggs . I’ve cut out all meat for the last little while and I feel tons better. I’m thinking about keeping this going long term.

How'd you turn off the desire for meat tho?

What's your primary protein source?

I’m not a vegetarian, but I’ve cut back on meat over the last few years. Have some really good meatless recipes that I like. Moderation works for me, but still love a good taco or burger.

Plant based diets are an unhealthy fad.  You’d be better off going carnivore as opposed to vegan.

IMO, targeted ketogenic is probably the healthiest way to eat.

I’ve had to go to a plant based  no fat diet for the last month under doctors orders . I have surgery next week to correct a problem. My gut has never felt better. I sleep better, I have more energy, I don’t get heartburn anymore, I don’t feel like a bloated cow anymore. I may keep this going , but add back dairy, and eggs.

I actually looked into that but decided to do intermittent fasting instead.  I feel good and am at college weight and waistline now.  I have cut back to deck of card sized meat portions and more fish and poultry  while cutting back on beef and pork.

Fruits, Veggies, Lean small meat portions, and nuts.  Pretty much my diet.

I've tried a number of different diets and I find it hard to stick to them. I've moved to the "perimeter of the grocery store" method. I stay away from the isles for the most part except for a few items. Basically a whole foods method. if it comes in a box I don't eat it.

People, not a fan.

That will get mugged on the street by antifa riots....

Pffft. Antifa is mostly Portland folk artists looking for something to do when the bars are closed.

I've been going with a less processed food diet with my family for the last few months. We eat meat and grains, but we don't do the overly processed stuff, and it seem to be working out pretty well for us. We're not full-blown paleo or anything, but just trying to pay attention to the quality and processedness (yes I know that's not a word) of our food. That said, my kids have been decrying the lack of Lunchables in their school lunches. :rotflmfao:

Would a protein style double-double from In n Out be plant based?

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Got the best diet advice ever from my wife's autoimmune specialist. He said that there's no magic bullet diet. That's why new ones keep coming up. The best universal advice of all of them is:

  • Fresh foods
  • Mostly plants
  • Reasonable portions

That's it. That's the secret. Don't eat like an asshole and everything will be fine.
