Should the MWC try to land UNT, Rice, UTEP, and/or UTSA FIRST?

You'd be hard pressed to find many people here who would like us to return to ESPN.

With the combo of FOX & CBSS, we get way better coverage than we ever did with ESPN.  We also have a few games on the Stadium Network, which I like much better than ESPN+.

I'm glad you like ESPN.  We'll have to see if you're still singing their praises after your media deal gets slashed by 60% or more.

That conference has lost everything of value except Memphis.

The rumor going around is that the new aac deal will be a continuation of the current one.  This has been discussed since the deal went public though.  It was designed to be plug and play.  I don’t blame you for missing that memo here though as enough seem content pooping on everything they don’t understand here.  It wouldn’t fit the narrative.

ESPN is considerably better than fox and both are on a different plane than cbss.

Because those pussies would still refuse to play us later in the year on rivalry weekend. Even more so now that Rocky is back, and his protege Danny Gonzales is the HC. I’ll take UTEP all day and twice on Sunday before I would take NMSU.

Those NMSU & UTEP rivalry games could all be schedule on specific dates.........the UNLV NV game is either last or on Nevada Day - Nevada being one of, if not the only state, that has a state holiday on the day of the states admission to the union ( October 31 or close there to for game day on NV day)

Maybe UTEP could bring the Sun Bowl to the MWC.

When UTEP is rolling, Haskins Arena is one of the nicest (and fullest) basketball arenas in the country. During good football years, the Sun Bowl is as full of Orange as BYU's stadia is full of blue.

UTEP also brings an NCAA Basketball National Championship banner with them.

How many of the leftover 8-10 MWC programs would have that?

The problem is NMSU refuses to play UNM at the end of the year. They’ve always claimed it give UNM the advantage. Could the conference make them play at a later date? Would NMSU agree??

They are not the AAC's partner. They own the AAC.  ESPN told Aresco to jump and he jumped....badly, as it turns out.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Based on what? What’s bad exactly? That they lost members? It looks like they’ll have the pick of the litter for replacements, I don’t see where the doom and gloom is coming from.  The only bad news is going to come from the lower level g5 conferences that will fall victim to consolidation.

ABC and ESPN have given the AAC a couple of cannons in the ratings war.

Those channels have given the AAC more than double (often triple) the ratings the MWC gets for its most important games.

Compare the MWC Championship game ratings to the AAC Championship game ratings the last few years.

Would be easier to schedule since both would be in the same conference - so like UNLV vs NV, the date could be asked for & probably set most years

UTEP could never draw this many fans.

Except they could, and have.

It looks like they used to get a crowd when a P5 came to town (Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech)

They could get  40 to 50k for just about everybody for a handful of years.  NM State was a sellout a couple times.  Marshall was once a sellout.  But those numbers went way down when program did.  Those crowds are there to be had...if the program delivers.  Dont often do.

It's looking like the AAC would prefer UTSA out of that group. UTSA just beat Illinois and is undefeated.

The MWC would probably be best served trying to get them off the board first.

Otherwise, Hair will get what's left.

Let it go, dude..let it go..
