Jesus Christ. Half of Caughlin Ranch is not either.  This is a “do you live in Paradise, NV or Las Vegas” nonsensical argument.

No kidding. The faux-Mormons ALWAYS win. Too tired to argue with dumb.

Nevada Convert seemed to actually get the joke that he chose not to live inside the city limits.

The Reno area does look beautiful.  And you all are right that I don't know much about it.  Never been there.  A former co-worker who lived in Vegas came to Boise a while back and told me it reminded him of Reno.  So it can't be all bad.

Well since you’ve warmed up to Reno and seem to like city limits… this home is on the Truckee River and only 1.2 miles from the downtown core casinos, 3 miles from UNR and 30 minutes from the ski resort.  Seems perfect for you.

I can assure you that all of those neighborhoods up and below there including my old house are all:

(Street Address)
Reno, NV (zip code)

The Slide side… The Rose side isn’t much further. A few minutes at most. I skied there last season. It’s a long ass drive from Somersett. Ikon this year.

slide side vs rose side 1 minute difference...tops

15 minutes from city limits, doubtful

less than 20...definitely

2 maybe 3 minute difference, I timed it both ways because I wanted a quickest time to the lifts from my house to brag about to my skiing friends.

Wedge Pkwy x Mt Rose Hwy is in city limits, and is 18 minutes from main lifts.  If you saved 3 minutes then that would put Reno City Limits within 15 minutes of ski slopes.  Now it better be a sunny morning with no recent snow.  Great area to have lived Convert.

Hell. I said Mt. Rose. Technically Sky Tavern is a city park! My kids went through that program one winter… awesome experience for young skiers.

Kap grew up with more privilege than me.  Fact.

His parents and brother used to post on the Nevada message board back in the day. They all seemed incredibly supportive, and Kaep appeared very genuine and humble in his time here.

Putting aside all the kneeling and activism, there is no doubt that his demeanor and attitude have changed since leaving, and I would argue not for the better. I fully support him kneeling and what he’s representing, but he does not appear to be the same guy. Even Murray our local reporter who fully supports his protests has said the same.

Im personally bummed, I was looking forward to seeing him reconnect to Reno and giving him a standing ovation. I’d also love to see us build a Kaep statue (and maybe Marion Motley as well), but there’s no doubt that something just seems off with him these days.

Maybe there is some bad blood between him and the university that we’re unaware of, but he has a lot of fans in Reno and it would’ve been cool to see him.

He’s going to get cheered and boo’d at the same time whether he’s there or not. I’m giving a standing ovation because it has nothing to do with him now. It’s a recognition of a time when he was a happy & good kid with a great attitude and accomplished great things because of it. I loved him then, and that's the memory that should be cherished. It’s probably best that he doesn’t show up unless he can channel the guy he was back then.

There's nothing wrong with Kaepernick. He's the same person. Having opinions about the deep issues with this country or how the NFL blacklisted him does not make him any different.

Why would he extend himself when he's not gonna give on any of his stances, and those people won't welcome him back?

All Kap would need to do is get up on the podium and say " I loved my time here, I'm grateful for the support you showed me ....and F**k Boise".

He'd be instant hero again.

What people are you referring to? It isn't clear which part of my post you were responding to.

He's such a controversial figure at this point that I think just about anywhere he goes he will have plenty of supporters and people against him. I guess I was just selfishly hoping that he had fond enough memories of his time at Nevada that he would want to experience his hof induction in person. I know we're just lil ole Nevada, but you'd think that being inducted to a hall of fame at any level would be a proud moment in a persons life and chance to reconnect with old friends and memories.

Obviously he has his reasons that none of us our privy to for not attending. It's just disappointing is all...

I don't think I'll ever witness are more exciting college football player to watch. His four years here were fun times, and it's too bad his NFL career didn't last longer.
