UNLV AD Going to Mizzou

Recommended Posts

This is not really surprising after DRF was named prominently during the UCLA and Northwestern AD hiring processes.

She was less of an embarrassment than her predecessor.  Her biggest legacy at UNLV is the "neighborhood watch logo" that lasted from July of '17 to December of '18.  She brought in very little as far as fundraising and facilities although got credit for both the facilities that were already in the pipeline when she arrived and a major donation that finally cleared probate court last year but was actually made in 2016 before she arrived.

Lindy La Roque was a great hire for women's basketball.  The jury is still out on her hires of Arroyo and Kruger, although both have all the advantages to succeed and hopefully both will.

Don't forget DRF's marketing genius with the "All You Can Eat Plan" offering free, and unlimited food concessions to fans in exchange for the purchase of $79 3-game ticket packages to UNLV FB games, or season ticket holders can pay an extra $30 for free/unlimited concessions in all the games.....a titanic failure of a decision that made gameday revenue go from bad to worse until the idea needed to be completely scrapped.

Everyone knows the simple model of getting fans in with cheap tickets, then make it up with concessions. So she offered cheap tickets and free concessions. LOL Did she learn that marketing trick from getting a free buffet at a casino?

She screwed UNLV over in the negotiations with the Raiders on Allegiant Stadium.  Lady worked for (Raiders) at one point and seems as though she didn't even bother to sit in the room when the negotiations were going on and UNLV almost got stuck playing at Sam Boyd Stadium again!

Major Football programs play as many as eight HOME GAMES but she didn't bother to negotiate that for UNLV.

Didn't negotiate on having all the seats put in the endzone for UNLV Football games, so now it looks like a vacant parking lot in the South Endzone during UNLV games.  That is where the Student section should be and she threw away any home field advantage by not demanding the endzone seats be installed!

Total incompetence to not get the Championship game for whatever conference UNLV plays in guaranteed in the contract for the 1st Saturday in December.

I could go on and on

Hire Stallworth.  The Father or the daughter!  I don't discriminate against women.

UNLV does not have a track record of making "home run hires".

Well, if ever there was a time to make one.  I'll say it again, UNLV has a window of opportunity with the facility upgrades and all the attention being payed to the Las Vegas sports market.  Now is the time to swing for the fences.  The window won't stay open for long.

I get what you are saying but given how low UNLV attendance is and how large the stadium is I'd be pissed as hell as a student to be forced to sit in the end zone.

They sit in the endzone anyways genius, just higher up in the endzone because she didn't bother to get the lower seats installed in the CONTRACT with the Raiders.

See the seats missing in the endzone?  That is the student section above that.  Students should have been right on the field to make more noise.

Glad the fans are happy for a potential new AD. I’ve often felt UNLV is swinging low with many things they do.
I don’t want to sound like I’m dissing you all and I don’t think you all suck, but I’ve always felt you could do better.
I too hope you swing for the fence. Vegas should have the best. Period.

Out of my mind for the Lobos!!

UNLV needs to hire people that want to be at UNLV and that understand UNLV/Las Vegas.  The problems arise when you hire outsiders who think they are going to show UNLV how it is supposed to be done and move on.

Ha I accidentally deleted my post about Doug Knuth. Relax, Rob, I was just trying to rattle a few cages lol.

Knuth isn’t going anywhere. Not because he isn’t a good AD but I’ve heard a rumor that if true seriously limits his upward mobility IMO.
