Exit fees from the Big12 would not be cheap, I don't why people tend to forget that little fact.  Why wouldn't the Big12 just poach ACC leftovers like Pitt, Syracuse, and ect taking who they want and leaving the rest.

That aside, there preference is an Eastern Conference. They sure as hell won't join the SBC with Marshall.

The only way West Virginia has a shot in the ACC is if ACC is raiding by someone otherwise West Virginia is stuck in Big 12 unless a new conference comes along.

To me Cal to Big10 would make no sense at all, when B10 expands again I would look at Oregon and Washington as I think they have more upside than Cal and Stanford do.

Honestly if Pac-12 blew up, which I don't see happening, but if did I wouldn't be surprised maybe Colorado as one of those teams left out and maybe joining MWC to survive.

Sounds like Kennesaw State will join C-USA, giving them ten members in 2023.

There's too many teams in D1. It's becoming more and more diluted with each passing year.  Could easily cut thirty teams and still have several that don't belong at this level

Isn't he another one of these long line of people saying all these conference changes were going to happen and never did? Last I read they didn't have the finances to move up to FBS level which for many schools is a major consideration now. There athletics are next to nothing, their football team has popped up last few years but they are having a losing season again this year.

Yep.

And I'd be fine if they cut it down to 40 and went from there.

Purdue, despite being in the B1G isn't playing the same game Ohio State and Alabama are.

And I'd be fine with BYU not being one of the 40, because even though we can rise up and beat some of those teams sometimes, we're not playing the same game.

I'd be for a European model with relegation long term

UC Board of Regents played their hand, and while the B1G might be stuck with them via UCLA, I can't see them ever letting that group get a second seat at the B1G table by bringing in Cal.

Nobody except Georgia is playing the same game right now.

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

Purdue is an odd example. Vandy, Rutgers, BC, etc. all fit your example much better than Purdue.

West Virginia belongs in the ACC, and every time they play an ACC team the ratings prove it.

Just like U$CLA belong in the PAC.

Rutgers and Maryland also do not belong in the B1G geographically or athletically.

Cincy and UCF are massive geographical outliers in the New12.
