O shit I completely forgot about them, you’re right they did move up. Yea Davis would be a good school to target as well. There would probably be worry that UCD would just be trying to use the MWC as a spring board to the Pac-12, but who cares? That would take at least a decade of them kicking ass for the Pac-12 to seriously consider them, and in the meantime they would have boosted the MWC profile a great deal.

thats how i see it too

may they just use the mwc to move on? sure...but like you say...theyd boost the profile in the meantime and going forward. its a no brainer imo.

If you are talking TV market's California has some pretty good ones across the state if MWC did try to take Davis or Sac St they would have pretty much the central valley for TV, but you also have an East Coast Bias which is real

Oh I don't know.  UCLA is making strides and coming back to life.  USC is getting there in BB and spending big on FB.  Stanford is static and sports are secondary there,  Cal is a mismanaged mess to be sure.  San Fran in BB made nice strides this year.  There are bright spots.

I think there is a clear difference in CA between how football is doing and how all other sports are doing. Football is definitely tough to maintain in CA, but we haven’t had a D1 school in CA drop football in 20 years since Northridge (Humboldt was D2) so it looks like the landscape has stabilized. Other sports seem to be doing fine. Pretty sure CA still has the most D1 schools as well, although I think Texas is pretty close now.

think texass has kali beat…there’s like 7 fbs teams in kali and at least 11 in texass that I can think of off the top of my head.

FACTS: Colorado St and Air Force were never going to AAC, North Texas, UT-Arlington and UTEP all approached MWC about expansion, MWC TV Partners said there were no schools out there MWC could get that would move the needle on their TV contract, MWC presidents then decided they weren't going to expand. 

 

You don’t acknowledge or address what was ever said though.  You ignore then respond with platitudes that equate to ‘like’ farming.  Your list of facts were either irrelevant or insufficient to rebuke anything I was talking about if you were paying attention for example...  Again it should come as no surprise to you that the remaining schools in a dying conference would reach out to gauge interest in joining, it’s called due diligence.  They approached the aac too but why don’t we hear their fans touting that I assume? Because it’s a nothing burger.  
 

No one cares if the presidents of the MWC ultimately said they didn’t want to expand-It’s out of their hands.  Your conference just signed a new deal.  The tv partners aren’t changing it.  How many other conferences have completely changed the makeup of their own contracts to add schools lately? None.  Did you think they would acquiesce the MWC but not any others? The aac (and cusa to lesser extent) expansions were about maintaining current contracts. Tv partners aren’t looking at paying more money to g5 conferences when there’s such big inventory on the table now with the pac, big, sec all entering in negotiations.  The statement from the presidents is basically the scorned lover saying they didn’t like the other guy anyway after getting turned down. But whatever, die on that hill if you want.
