Once again we go back to my original point, either you ignore everything that has come out or you are just set in your ways and nothing will move you from it. UTEP, North Texas and Arlington all approached MWC but the presidents decided to stay where they were. That was why North Texas then turned to AAC they wanted MWC first and many stories are out there saying the same thing. The TV partners said no new money if MWC expanded so that ended the talks.

Ok.  So, I’m not going to refute your version of events but it is possible that the more middle-ground/realistic outcome is that when North Texas reached out to the MWC it was out of due diligence, not preference.  One would hope X school would seek out best options after all. At the end of the day that’s splitting hairs,  and the other schools you mentioned are inconsequential as they weren’t part of the aac(see last sentence in next paragraph).

Aresco was an espn marketing executive.  Once he had to, he went straight to espn and figured out how much market they needed to maintain to keep the contract whole.  What else would he realistically do? He then bled that market dry, only scraps left behind intentionally small enough so not to generate further expansion interest in the area.

You’re also perhaps misconstruing the belief the tv partners said no to additional money being a lack of suitable expansion options instead of them just not being interested in throwing more money into the conference at this time.  There’s big game on the horizon, tv partners are preparing for them, not figuring out a way to pay the MWC more money.

Once again we are back at the original two points, which now I think its more of the second point with you at this time. You have this image in your head of how things went but when nothing matches what you say, you are still keeping with that point because well who knows why you want, that is between you and yourself at this point.  It really has been like this since the beginning.

What do you mean nothing matches? You just make stuff up and ignore what I actually say. Sound familiar? You’re the proverbial Pot meets Kettle person.  I at least addressed what you said whereas you can’t and instead resort to dismissive banter and deflection.

If the MWC lost two schools I think it would be more likely that they stand pat then replace the lost schools. And if they did expand I think they would look at a school like CSU Sac before they look at a school like Tx State. Not advocating for that, just seems like it’d be more likely.

Depends on who those two schools are.  They wouldn't stand pat if one of them were say, Nevada or UNLV.

They won't make a move.  There isn't a single G5 program that helps them.

good...because often, doing nothing is the right thing

what's wrong with the MWC just as it is?

that's what i dont get with all these people who want to add one or more of a zillion bad options...

the conference's bones are great as is. stick together...invest in the programs...and the success will come....what ensures shit futures for all involved is constant turnover in coaching...every school looking for a very mythical lifeboat instead of improving the very real lot they already have...and then trying to add the Sac States/UTSAs of the world as "replacements"...lol

I don't make stuff up, everything I have said has been stated just because someone doesn't want to believe them because it will hurt his fantasy of an idea that should be happening isn't my fault.

FACTS: Colorado St and Air Force were never going to AAC, North Texas, UT-Arlington and UTEP all approached MWC about expansion, MWC TV Partners said there were no schools out there MWC could get that would move the needle on their TV contract, MWC presidents then decided they weren't going to expand.

Apparently Gundy mentioned Boise State to the Big12 in an article today.

That's going to give Rev. Ibanez a boner....cuz, ya know, 'reading between the lines' is proof....

BTW...Gundy didnt mention Boise.  Berry Tramel did.  But he's not wrong - IF (a big IF) the Big 12 does ever decide to add more schools, they'd be in the mix.  And I'd be all for it.

Yup the key thing though is they are going have to get more funding but also remodel their football stadium I think

aren't academics also a factor as well? That's why I keep on seeing people say Boise should not be in the B12

Boise State already had the Big 12 look at facilities. Not as many upgrades as you would think but they did scrap the old expansion plans. Memphis has a bigger stadium problem than Boise does.

Boise State and Memphis have always been 13 and 14. 15 and 16 is where the scrambling happens. In fact, BSU and Memphis already knows they are in. I'm not even gonna say I told you so.

Are you sure?  The post quality from some of their fans had me thinking they are way better than Ivy League level.

It looks like Gundy did actually talk about Boise:

Quote

“I think there’s strength in numbers,” Gundy said. “I’m speaking out of turn here, because Bowlsby didn’t tell me this. When I just read between the lines, and listen to what people say, including him, even though he’s not speaking directly to the subject, there’s strength in numbers.

“When you have numbers, it allows you to be a little more diversified in what you do. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re at 14 in five years.”

Quote

“Some people, the only issue they would say is, can they grab the northern California television market?” Gundy said. “Because that’s what it comes down to.

“From a history of success, from what I would call a football school that grabs people’s attention, Boise would be a team that people would be interested in. The administrators and whoever makes the deals money-wise would have to decide whether they can get enough people to watch the games. That’s what it comes down to.”

Quote

“Just like BYU,” Gundy said. “Everybody thought BYU was a Power 5 school forever. I used to flip (channels), and I’d stop and watch ‘em. I think Boise does grab people’s attention.”
