wolfpack1
Missouri Valley Conference is also still looking for one more school as they want to move to 12 schools. UMKC and Illinois-Chicago along with UT-Arlington were pushing for that 12th spot, however MVC hasn't said when they want to expand to that 12 number.

Well they are losing Chicago St at the end of the academic year, possibly Sam Houston St and NMSU as well. They are bringing in Southern Utah and Incarnate Word. So loose three add three? Nonetheless the Sun Belt is loftier than the WAC.

RSF
UTA has explored bringing back football in the past. And, in Globe Life Park 5 minutes away, a stadium no team in IAA can match. Doubt its in the cards, though, but if holes like Tarleton State and UTRGV think they can do it... I recall reports after the SBC expanded that they basically told UTA and Little Rock (who has already accepted an invitation from the OVC) they needed to GTFO. Negative re UTA bringing back football. For now. It's my workplace. I would love for UTA to rise up and get its gridiron on again. The long empty on campus stadium is well suited for FCS. There is zero desire for football at UTA. None, at all. At best it's baseball and ladies hoops. UTA is super honed on capitalizing on its recent Carnegie Tier One status first and foremost. There is no real desire at this time to be like possible future peer North Texas and elevate sports comprehensively. I think football at UTA would be game-changing so to say. I am in the minority. UTA has strong enrollment and a good campus life, but it's just not a sports school. Not yet.

I've lived in Arlington for 30 years, my wife got her Masters there, and my daughter went to school literally next door to Maverick Stadium...which is the busiest empty stadium you will ever see. You are wrong about zero interest...just not enough, as my post suggested. They just dropped some major coin on College Park Center, but not for womens bball and their 2 lifetime NCAA appearances, unless you mean the Dallas Wings. And now for Rev Ibanez to call me a know it all and make a crude remark about my mother... Unfortunately, you are usually highly negative in general. Fortunately you are alone in that lot re TCU types. I work with several of them at UTA and they are fantastic. College Park is under development but yet underwater re community development. It's a loss leader. Props to your wife for earning her Masters at UTA; that cred is appreciating in value every day. Good day.

Kinda disappointing as they were all in on The Valley, who I guess went in a different direction. UT-Arlington was previously in the WAC for only the '12-'13 season. If they go back next year, the only members remaining from that season will be Seattle and (until July '23) NMSU. Let that sink in. Seattle will be the longest tenured current WAC member after July 1, 2023.

They are only talking as UTA still has their eyes set on for being that 12th school, however if I was MVC and was choosing between Murray St and UTA I may pick Murray St as well. Seattle wanted to move to Division I so WAC was the choice, I don't think they envisioned themselves being there as long as they have though honestly. Murray State has football and traditionally decent basketball. UTA gives you a full member in Texas. I'd give Murray State the edge, but would strongly consider UTA also. As for Seattle, this is their 10th season in the WAC. And it's not the WAC they joined, not even close. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/wac/2013.html
