More competitiveness and overall brand. I just don't want my school to be left out in the mud after all this realignment

Gonzaga has managed to make 2 Final Fours in the last 5 years in a conference that, despite your competitiveness claim, has outranked the MWC more often than not in recent years.  And, given the modest dollars involved, brand dont mean shit.

Not as big as you make it out to be.  BYU's basketball success in recent years has not been overwhelming.

I already showed the #’s without BYU.  The difference between the 2 conferences is fairly negligible.

What are the numbers without Gonzaga? Remember, if we are looking at it from Gonzaga’s standpoint we are looking at who Gonzaga would be playing; they can’t play themselves. From Gonzaga’s standpoint they would be comparing having the current MWC schools as conference-mates to having Portland, St. Mary’s, USF, UOP, Santa Clara, USD, LMU, and Pepperdine as conference-mates.

But again, it’s not going to happen. Gonzaga doesn’t seem very interested, but the MWC doesn’t either. I don’t think Gonzaga sees much of a point in switching conferences and aligning with a bunch of football schools for a modest improvement in their conference schedule, and I don’t think the MWC thinks the Zags add enough value to counterbalance the potential poor fit that would happen after Few leaves if Gonzaga becomes an average program.

Idk man it's just excuses in my viewpoint.
