Remember, if we are looking at it from Gonzaga’s standpoint we are looking at who Gonzaga would be playing; they can’t play themselves. From Gonzaga’s standpoint they would be comparing having the current MWC schools as conference-mates to having Portland, St. Mary’s, USF, UOP, Santa Clara, USD, LMU, and Pepperdine as conference-mates. But again, it’s not going to happen. Gonzaga doesn’t seem very interested, but the MWC doesn’t either. I don’t think Gonzaga sees much of a point in switching conferences and aligning with a bunch of football schools for a modest improvement in their conference schedule, and I don’t think the MWC thinks the Zags add enough value to counterbalance the potential poor fit that would happen after Few leaves if Gonzaga becomes an average program.
