No insult taken.  But no...we don't wan't to be FCS's Alabama anymore.   We need to find an FBS home.   It'll work out fine once we land somewhere.  I mean, you guys make Hawaii work.   It is also a heck of a lot easier to get to Fargo than Laramie, unless you're busing from CSU or something.

You think airplanes can't land in Laramie?

no expansion expected for the MW per Dodd

Mountain West sources told CBS Sports on Monday night that the conference will not expand beyond the current 12 teams in football. MWC presidents see no value in adding teams. A contributing factor is that the MWC's rightsholders, Fox and CBS, would be unlikely to increase their contracts if the league expands, MWC sources said. Teams in the league earn an average of $5 million per year, and the MWC's current TV deal expires in 2026.

"I don't understand the value of 14 [in the AAC]," said a high-profile source familiar with media rights worth of schools, "but more power to them."

MWC commissioner Craig Thompson admitted this weekend that he had spoken to "four to six" schools while investigating potential expansion. Three of those were thought to be North Texas, UTSA and Rice with an aim of creating a stronger recruiting presence in Texas.”

Key words: "in football." Sounds like Hair will probably beg Gonzaga and Wichita State again... and knowing Hair, probably fail again.

I thought the NCAA ruling only applied to Conferences with 10 teams like the Sun Belt did

Any conference with less than 12 can have one as long as round robin play is involved.  If was for the benefit of the Big 12.  The Sun Belt then split into divisions so they would not have to do a full round robin.

The louder someone claims to know something, the less they generally know.

If Texas is out I'd love to see both Dakota States and Montanas make the jump to the MWC. It's a complete Longshot and fantasy right now however.

No offense, but that would suck for the schools here. The MW doesn't need any more Wyomings. One is enough.

In terms of markets I could understand that, however a Conference with the Dakota State schools, Montana schools and Wyoming would be awesome IMO.

Just have to have a round robin in conference play or divisions.

I meant the MWC waited too long to grab some of those Texas schools.

I don't think SMU plays a single minute in the same conference with UNT.  B12 dreams aside, the MWC is a far better landing spot than the AAC with all of those schools.

SMU and Rice may be what's for dinner in the MWC.

There are plenty on this board that promoted adding UTSA, UNT, and/or Rice.  Markets were usually the chief reason cited.  The folly of chasing TV markets isn't the exclusive province of Aresco.

I’ve been an advocate for expansion, but not because of markets. If North Dakota St. weren’t a bazillion miles from the rest of the conference, I’d probably be advocating them, too.

I'd take any other school over Rice. Being good in Academics only doesn't cut it

They're no farther then Hawaii and would have a travel partner in SDSU.

For the Dakota States and the Montana Schools, yeah, I'm sure it would be awesome. For the schools already here, not so much.

SMU's athletic director was on the AAC's expansion committee that decided all this. Apparently they're fine with UNT.

I do hope you understand the vast situational and geographic differences between Fargo and Honolulu.

Fox and CBS are reportedly not willing to pay more to the MW for expansion..If and when schools leave expansion may be discussed..It is possible the league will just get smaller..The Dakotas and the Montanas  just aren't in the picture at the moment..

Oh I'm well aware it's a no go presently, probably going to have to wait until BSU and SDSU if not more move to the Big 12

The MWC announced today that they won't be expanding in football.  Sounds like outside of basketball expansion is dead.

maybe he has an exit strategy. Maybe it's the B12 as senseless as it seems. I don't how these adds appeal to any team in that conference with higher aspirations.

I do, weather and other factors come into play in that regard. I just don't think the overall distance really should be taken into account as if we're going to argue that then Hawaii has them beat. And really the only schools I could be having a problem with it are the California schools which is then the Gated somewhat as they wouldn't have to travel to the Dakotas every single year
