Did I hear a WOOSH?

Conference Realignment thread

Seen that aTm doesnt want UT in the SEC...but what about the other 13 schools? Has Mizzou made a public statement?

That said I could imagine you are right...I even wonder if Mizzou might leave the SEC and join KU in a move to the B10 that makes a lot of sense to me. That leaves SEC at 13 and only needing to add 1....OU.

OU/Texas would need 11 Yes votes to be invited, they can’t invite themselves in spite of what Longhorn fans may tell you.

Nobody raiding the PAC-12 is good news for my school UNLV so I hope they don’t come West.  I don’t say that it is impossible though.

Still trying to sell this worthless snake oil I see. UNLV wouldn't be invited to the MWC these days with their terrible athletics.  I wouldn't worry about your bottom of the barrel athletic programs getting poached by any conference.

Texas is already exploring other options. That would be either the B1G or the PAC-12 - Big 12 merger I mentioned earlier this year that would of landed WSU and Oregon State in the MWC. I'm not bragging about it so don't start the insider shit please. Just saying.

If they don’t go to the SEC word is they are exploring going independent.

Independent is where I always thought they would go, with a scheduling agreement with the ACC or PAC-12 similar to Notre Dame.

Just a point. This is obviously a thing of Texas has talked to more than just the SEC. It's either gonna be Texas and OU to the SEC or Texas and USC to the B1G. Pretty obvious Texas is tired of being a third wheel to the SEC and B1G.

If it is the PAC-12 merger with some Big 12 members, Washington State, Oregon State, and Utah get left out and Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State would be the three to join the PAC 9. I'd imagine that would be the best case scenario for the MWC. Adding BYU would get the MWC to 16.

Two Western conferences will exist.  You don't want to be in #2.

I don't think OU & Texas are going to the Pac-12 at all.  It's so easy to say that Larry Scott screwed everything up but in reality it is the stupid 12 conference presidents/chancellors that put the P12 in the spot it is today.  There would be public executions of the OU and UT presidents if they dared move to a conference like that.  That is why I would be happy if CU left the P12 in this case.

Kansas certainly didn't help the cause for those two plus KU to make the move given off the field issues with the football team but then you have Michigan State & Penn State and their scandals so there must be a chance that happens.

Believe it or not, the latest Carnegie Research Rankings has nearly every P5 school in it.  Baylor, TCU, and Wake Forest appear to be on the outside looking in so I think academics will take more of a backseat in this case.  It's more about the money this time around.

This would be CSU's best chance to join the Big 12...LOL.

BYU is a possibility for the BIG12, agreed.  The context of my comment was more specific to the other western programs.

In other words, you forgot that BYU was west of the Big 12.

No, it’s just that I was talking to a Unlv person about where they fit in the realignment picture.  Byu is the only property of value out west that has a chance to be picked up-everyone knows this.  Everyone also knows that BYU’s best chance was with the last realignment so while they do represent the ‘best chance out west’ of getting picked up their overall chances continue to go down.  They will likely be in the aac when all is said and done.

Yea, you forgot. It’s all good, it happens.

Texas has been "exploring" independence for over a decade now.

Big-12 should invite:

UNLV

SDSU

BYU

Boise

Houston

Cincinnati

Today!

Only BYU would have a good chance of getting in. Cincy and SDSU and Houston would have a VERY  VERY outside chance.  Really I don't see anyone except BYU getting in.  If Okie and Texas depart the B12 TV money would go down by 50% or more.
