Conference Realignment thread

At this moment in time, I think Big 12 is still on shaky ground.

I don't. They are easily better than any G5 conference in football. They are also arguably better than the PAC, and may turn out to be better than the ACC if Clemson falls back to the pack. Kenpom crunched the numbers and found that they will also still be the best conference in basketball.

This is not the dysfunctional Big East, which was getting raided every other week and had a schism between the football schools and the basketball schools. The Big 12 is stable enough to maintain their power conference status, IMO, and revoking it would open a can of worms that the PAC and ACC shouldn't want to be opened.

2 losses.....Refs swinging 14 pts in one game.... Pick one

All of how "you are not as good as the Moore years"  is his argument.  Guess what.  UCF has never, ever been as good as those years and sure as shit have not been lately.  Same with Cincy, Houston and most P5 teams.

No G5 team has come anywhere close to being as good year and year out as Boise state has for 23 years now.  Yes, we know the Moore years were the highlight....Post Pete we still have more top 25 finishes than SDSU and Fresno have combined in their programs history, a NY6 win, and have made an appearance in the top 25 every season.  That is still the most consistent in the G5...

It is 100% security, though.  Yes, we could be impacted negatively like the WCC will be.  We could also hit the jackpot.  Or no changes at all.

Your administration is the reason why our basketball league is bleeding out currently. If you didn't insist on San Jose being in the MWC, so you guys would have someone that votes similar to SDSU, every team in the MWC wouldn't have to play 2 games vs. a team with a 330 RPI ranking EVERY season.

I think that is accurate.

In fact, I know of nothing to prevent SDSU having a law school. Law schools don't award Doctor of Philosophy degrees but rather Juris Doctorates. Those are 3-year full-time programs and are sometimes awarded after five years of higher education with the student also earning just the equivalent of an associate of arts degree rather than a BA.

Not mentioned by a poster above is that San Diego doesn't just have a law school at private USD, it also has an ABA accredited law school at private Cal Western. I'm friends with a former professor there who told me that school has had financial problems for many years and it's located in a sketchy part of downtown. Maybe it would be irrelevant to SDSU gaining P12 admission but it's my opinion SDSU should buy it if possible and move that school to the expanded campus in Mission Valley.

The California Higher Education Master Plan has specific wording that UC's are the only ones allowed to offer dentistry, law, medicine, and veterinary medicine degrees.

The original 1960s Master Plan also said graduate architecture degrees could only be offered by UCs. But that was later changed and is what allows Cal Poly's architecture program to offer a master's degree.

As I've said before, I think more changes for professional doctorate degrees in the CSUs makes sense. Just like the change allowing Cal Poly to offer a masters in architecture, it would continue the idea of CSUs developing applied/professional needs in the state.

That kind of sounds like the B12.  The leftovers tried to find a new home, but were unsuccessful.

Where are Texas Tech & Okie light going to go?

The B12 is still the 5th best conference, even if they have to replace a team.  No G5 is a stable as they are.  They are, however, the least stable P5.  There isn't a team there that wouldn't bolt for one of the other major conferences.

Thanks.

That makes sense for degrees in medicine because of the significant cost of laboratory research. However, with the advent of the internet it's just dumb for law because research in that field is rarely ever done through use of hard copy books anymore.

Stability Ranking

SEC>B10>ACC>P12>B12>MAC>AAC>Conference USA>Sunbelt> MWC

We've made some noise this year, and big for a long time? Seems to me Houston only got big with Herman and Cincy just recently. But hey last time I checked everyone hates California and for good reason to, and outside maybe the west coast doesn't seem to many people care about FSU despite what they've accomplished this year.

...lol that's why there's 50 million people living there I guess.

californians (and rich easterners) need serfs, though, which is where you and your ilk come in...lol

I don't know about that. We are soon gonna find out when their media deal negotiations start. I think they can lose two teams and be fine. I'm not sure the Big 12 can.

I actually think BYU is the best brand in the Big 12 now. The PAC-12 should of took BYU years ago but they had to be a bunch of racists and elitists.

you just perfectly described byu...lol
