They play in a little dome that has a 10,500 seat capacity.

I had a professor at UNR who was at Northern Arizona and on the committee about building that dome. They used to play outside and he said one game day they had a huge snowfall and more people were having snowball fights in the stands than watching the game

In the latest news out of Colorado Springs, the Air Force Academy Foundation has just announced that it's officially neutral on AFA "policy decisions" which presumably include the decision whether to stay in the MWC or leave for the AAC:

The Air Force Academy Foundation, which solicits donations for the school and its athletic programs, issued the neutrality statement amid criticism from some donors who want the Falcons to remain in the Mountain West Conference.

"The mission of the Air Force Academy Foundation is to serve and support the United States Air Force Academy," the foundation said in a Wednesday email. "We do this by maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with the Air Force Academy and its leadership. As such, our bylaws do not permit the Foundation to make public statements or pronouncements contrary to any policy decisions of the Academy."

"In the case of the recent story in the Colorado Springs Gazette, whatever unnamed source communicated with the media did so on their own and does not speak on behalf of the Air Force Academy Foundation,” the foundation said.

This is what is known as "plausible deniability."

Also a sounds like a little bit of caught with our pants down scenerio.

The ACC is rightfully proud of the academic standings of their member universities.  WVU is ranked #249.  No one is inviting them.

West Virginia was a finalist for the ACC before, when someone waves money at you things change. We are going to see that with the Big conferences when the rest go to 16, they will ditch stuff to get that money.

NDSU could be the new Boise State. They've done well on establishing their brand - even from a FCS platform.

Why not give them a shot?

Because there has never been a "next Boise State" yet though several have tried.  19 consecutive years with a top 25 appearane in football, 23 consecutive years with 8 or more wins.  UCF aint Boise, Memphis aint Boise, Cincy aint Boise.  UCF may get there, let's see if they keep it up for another 15 years or so.

What's laughable, is a NDSU fan thinking the MWC would ever invite them.

Geography matters.

Geography does matter some.   I think North Dakota is the beginning of the west in the north, so I think it wouldn't be a stretch to include NDSU in the MWC footprint.  HOWEVER, I have to say, if the AFA and CSU leave, as does BSU, then the conference is essentially a west coast conference at that point.  I'd have to agree that NDSU would probably be misplaced in such a conference.   If those things are a foregone certainty, we should be looking at the MAC, a resurrected FBS WAC, or going independent in football.   That last option is one I've tended to be very receptive to for NDSU.   We could prove ourselves in FBS while continuing to go to the NCAA dance from the Summit League every other year or so.

I don't care what Jim says.  That is not the real Ben Franklin.  I'm 99% certain.

Oklahoma was the key to the conference, they were the ones that help keep things stable kind of the cooler head. But now they are gone, that is gone. West Virginia wants into the ACC and always has and were pissed when Louisville and Pittsburgh were chosen over them, if ACC came at them tomorrow West Virginia would take the invite. Kansas has made it known they are happy. Its not hogwash, Big 12 imploding, well that would be all speculation. But let's say ACC comes for West Virginia and Big 10 comes for Kansas? Yes everyone would smell the blood in the water and then we would start seeing a feeding frenzy. However going from Step A to B is a step there, but Big 12 isn't as secured as you think, but then it is also reasonable to say that the Big 5 stay pat after this as well. Most people believe it will be calm for about 12-18 months before things start again.

What conference outside of the SEC and BigTen is 100% secure.  I’ll take security of the BigXII over that of the MWC right now that’s for sure.

Sure does.

Nobody has mentioned it that I've noticed but Troy Calhoun shouldn't be ignored in all this. Calhoun may be hated by many here but he's loved at AFA. A year and a half ago Calhoun was courted heavily by the University of Colorado and was given a new 5-year contract to remain at AFA. According to Coaches Hot Seat, Calhoun is now making $3M per year. Only four coaches at G5 schools are earning more and two of the four will be leaving for the B12 with their teams in a couple years. Calhoun has stated publicly he's none too happy being in the MWC despite the fact its headquarters are in the same city as the AFA.

What should also not be forgotten is Aresco's TV contract need to replace the exiting members of his conference with an equal number of new members. So unlike Craig Thompson, who won't have to do anything if AFA and CSU leave, Aresco MUST add four new schools to his conference. Nor should it be overlooked that Thompson and Aresco can't stand each other. Therefore, having AFA and CSU be two of the four will allow Mr. Massive Ego to gloat about his victory over Herr Thompson.

Here's hoping the two front range schools leave immediately and let's be done with it. And if Thompson also leaves the MWC, so much the better.

You all haven’t kept it up since Pete left.   Your two losses OOC speak for themselves.

While the armed forces are pivoting to the Pacific theater, the Air Force Academy decides to go East instead.  Calhoun liked to complain about travel (mainly reading his quotes that in our Hawaii newspaper articles).  Now he’ll get a bit more of travel in the AAC.

Wondering if there is an airfield on campus that allows them to avoid the airports?  They are one team we should not have to worry about travel resources.

Goodbye 🤙

Yeah, and they took LV who is the only ACC school ranked outside of the top 100.

Well WCC did lose BYU...

Yes.  But the WCC is still secure as other options are available if needed. Even if Gonzaga leaves no one else is going anywhere.  The remaining 8 or 9 will carry on.  Or add the likes of Seattle, Cal Baptist and Grand Canyon.
