If this actually happened I would be ROTFLMAO.  Bringing back UConn for football only… yep, the Falcons and Rams sure will enjoy those road trips to STORRS!

Hey, they can stock up on maple syrup when they go there.  Or is that Vermont?

Fresno St is the biggest show in Fresno County,  which...again  250,000 more people than North Dakota.

BTW. San Diego County has 3.4 million  people in it and SDDU " owns" that market.

Do you want to continue?

One thing no one is mentioning is population growth. CA is losing people. ID is growing fast. Where will ND, MT, AZ etc be 10 years from now? Could be much better than they are today. Just a thought

Montana is receiving a influx of people as well, pretty much all the Mountain states are as people flee California.

Considering AF and CSU leaving is looking more and more like a done deal I doubt the MWC stays at 10 teams. 12 teams seems to be the minimum number needed for survival and I would expect to see an invite to some Texas schools sooner rather than later.

My vote would be for Texas State and UTSA. They are only an hour away from each other so good travel partners/rivalry game and potentially the San Antonio Media Market which according to the DMA is ranked 31st. Wouldn't be a bad looking Conference either:

MOUNTAIN:

BSU, USU, WYO, UNM, UTSA, Texas State

(States: ID, WY, NM, UT, TX)

WEST:

FSU, SJSU, Hawaii, UNLV, Nevada, SDSU

(States: CA, HI, NV)

If that doesn't work you have options in UTEP and North Texas. After that then I'd see them potentially looking at the Montana Schools or Dakota State schools.

Rice wanted out of MWC I don't see them wanting to come back. UTEP left MWC and I think they may have second thoughts. But like I said IF they are looking at basketball schools to join, I think Arlington could be a team to target

WTF? Neither of those teams were ever in the MWC.

California grew 6% in the last decade. In the last decade we added two Montana's or one Idaho.  We are losing people to internal migration and our share of the total US population is shrinking as a result of faster growth in Texas and other states but the population continues to increase due to births and immigration.

I don't believe that. If anyone would be against adding us, it would be the weak sisters; Washington State, Oregon State and the Arizona schools, all of whom rely heavily on California recruits.  We already beat these schools on some kids. They wouldn't stand a chance if we're at their level.  The UC presidents would throw up a little in their mouths if they had to add a couple of Red State knuckle draggers like TT or OK St.  The cultural thing is bigger than most think IMO.

Lest we forget Utah and Colorado.

The country's fastest growing states are in the MWC's footprint:

This also underlines why any expansion of the MWC should target Texas.  North Dakota's growth is impressive too, but its base population is so miniscule by comparison that Texas has to be the priority.

If AFA and CSU were really looking at their long-term interests these growth trends would be another reason for them to stay put, but that's fine, I'm sure Kansas and Oklahoma and Louisiana and Alabama (and maybe Connecticut too!) have other qualities the Falcons and Rams will find appealing...

Yup already mentioned that Kansas and Big 10 have been doing a dance with each other but who the second team to come in would be interesting. West Virginia has wanted in the ACC and when during the last expansion they were kind of pissed they weren't taken but I don't know if ACC would take them now or not.

SEC will already be at 16, Big 10 and ACC only have to choose 2 teams to get to 16, Pac-12 has further to go.

Now IF Kansas and Iowa St let's say, decide to leave, I think there will be a feeding frenzy on the Big 12 you can almost see Pac-12 going after TCU and possibly Houston. Maybe even Texas Tech, then maybe we see WEst Virginia to ACC. And then I think Big 12 is gone then. However that is all hypothecial right now but still the Big 12 we see now I dont think is the Big 12 we see in a year or two very possibly.

I ran across this article today. It is part UCF fan blog conspiracy theory and half conjecture. But, it would not surprise me one bit.

The post feeding frenzy Big 12.

Assuming WVU to ACC, Kansas to B1G or Big East, Houston and TCU to Pac.

East:  Iowa st, UCF,  Memphis, Cinci, K state, okie st, maybe Kansas stays

West: Baylor, TT, BYU, Boise, SUDS ? and ???

Aztecs will need a travel partner. Fresno ?  Nevada ?

One heck of a B-ball Conference if Kansas stays.
