SalinasSpartan
So yea, this is a great example of why I have said a million times that the idea that the Arizona schools would actually leave the Pac-12 for the Big 12 is stupid as hell; the risk of the Big 12 losing UT and/or OU and falling apart is just too real considering both would be targets of the SEC and B1G.
alum93
Could this be the start of 4 16 team P5 conferences forming in next few years? Everyone splits into 8 team divisions. B12 teams end up scattering. Texas and OU to SEC gets them to 16 now. And then they formally cut ties and have their own playoff. Greed has no boundaries.

So if that's the case the ACC would probably rescue West Virginia and add another school. Instill think it would be Cincinnati. PAC-12 would stay at 12 as well. These remaining schools TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State would stick together. BYU, Houston and then who knows? Won't be SMU I don't think. Memphis, UCF, SDSU, UNLV, Colorado State, Boise State, Fresno State....probably in that order. Memphis didn’t even make it to the presentation round during the Big12 expansion charade the first time. I’m not sure what would’ve changed. The consultants hired by the big12 only identified two schools worthy of expanding.

No reason to grab Texas and Oklahoma, especially with the Longhorn Network still a thing. Agree, no sense in the sec doubling down in Florida when they could pull whoever they wanted. They could pull Oklahoma and Ohio state and say F U to texas if they wanted.
Del Scorcho
25 minutes ago, Ibanez said: Won't happen but I'll have fun with it. Out of these teams Texas Tech is the only one the PAC-12 would want. The ACC has always stick their nose up at West Virginia but ...maybe. They would add Cincinnati to go to 16 after Notre Dame turns them down again. B1G will almost certainly go to 16 but they would raid the ACC before they grab any of these teams. Kansas maybe? I still think the raid the ACC. I have a weird feeling and it's a feeling they have had in Pullman for years that Washington State and Oregon State's days are numbered in the PAC-12. Also feel like with Texas Tech being more west that east, TCU's MWC success, and not wanting to compete with the SEC, B1G, and ACC's backyard, if these last Big 12 teams expand, they would go west. BYU gets the first and second call. Houston would get a call too. wtf ... why would the PAC12 want Texas Tech?

Yes, the playoff expansion killed the p5 moniker already but 4 16 team conferences have been speculated for years now.

Also, i thought UCF wouldn't stoop to 2 for 1s with UF. lulz. Our school called literally every p5 team with openings and only UF returned the call. It is what it is. I never hated the prospect of 2-1, it’s just that most schools won’t even play us anymore.

I am fine with SEC only taking two I am just saying it would be smarter to take more! Nobody raiding the PAC-12 is good news for my school UNLV so I hope they don’t come West. I don’t say that it is impossible though. North Carolina, Duke, UCLA and USC would be nice BIG additions.
AztecSU
If UT/OU leave KU will probably try and join the B10. And with no need for divisions to have a CCG, the B1G could simply add KU and stand pat at 15 and no divisions. the 7 remaining schools would just add their 5 choices from MW/AAC.

Out of all the schools the PAC-12 wanted to add with Texas a few years ago, Texas Tech was Cal and Stanford's first choice. Hell, Cal and Stanford aren't happy with the Oregon schools academics. TT doesnt have very good academics. 2 Quote "Make like a tree and scram" - Rosegreen Your administration is the reason why our basketball league is bleeding out currently. If you didn't insist on San Jose being in the MWC, so you guys would have someone that votes similar to SDSU, every team in the MWC wouldn't have to play 2 games vs. a team with a 330 RPI ranking EVERY season. Actually... That's probably how it ends up. They are already saying Texas A&M and Missouri would block a Texas and Oklahoma move. Seen that aTm doesnt want UT in the SEC...but what about the other 13 schools? Has Mizzou made a public statement? That said I could imagine you are right...I even wonder if Mizzou might leave the SEC and join KU in a move to the B10 that makes a lot of sense to me. That leaves SEC at 13 and only needing to add 1....OU.
Did I hear a WOOSH?
8 minutes ago, Ibanez said: That's not correct. If there are only four, five, or maybe even six Big-12 teams left they are going west to get BYU. And if the SEC actually managed to get OU and Texas, I guarantee they (Big 12) will not go get southeastern teams when the SEC and ACC are already there. It would hurt their recruiting and more importantly, their TV contract. BYU is a possibility for the BIG12, agreed. The context of my comment was more specific to the other western programs.
