If your program has been invited to join the PAC, please give us your 3-4 main justifications that you think made a difference. If your program was not invited to join the PAC, please share what you think are the main reasons. why not. We have all heard the responses from the AD's and University Admins. I am interested in what the Fans have to say. Football sucks. We had an AD that destroyed our program. In 2014-15 or so, we were at the top of the MW for funding. We actually bring in less now maybe it's about the same. The Pit renovation throttled our program. We can't even host any NCAA tourney games. Suites were never paid for. Wise Pies never paid up. Noodles, Locksley, Sanchez, shut down mens soccer and skiing. A team that played for the natl championship and a team that won it. I'm peeved on the one hand, on the other I really don't care because at the end of the day, I will follow and support my Lobos no matter where. 2 Quote Out of my mind for the Lobos!! Destiny Dutch
Gloria landing Grand Canyon would be huge! They fit perfectly in our footprint and they will be nationally competitive. There is no downside and it's a significant step to get back to a 4-5 bid conference. On 10/25/2024 at 5:00 PM, MissionTrails said: FIFY! USU was the one school who was winning on the field, but not in the top markets--and since they were willing to pay their own fees. Easy choice. All Schools are paying their exit fees. Which seems strange since the Pac has the lettuce to help these Schools out. USU proved their willingness and worthiness to join the new PAC when the Boosters raised the exit fees plus an $1.5 mil per year to increase the FB Coaches payroll. It's kind of cool how UNLV (and Air Force) helped save the MWC. And i still don't see the money coming that justifies a split. But we'll know soon enough. Going out and saying you are going to get the best cable deal for your new teams and then getting Logan, Utah over Las Vegas, Nevada? I think if they had snagged UNLV then the MWC would look very different as more dominoes would have fallen involving multiple conferences. The Pac targeted the first four. The perceived upper end of the Conference. The Pac 6 then targeted UNLV. They chose the payoff and the status of being the tallest midget. When UNLV passed they asked USU and stopped there. It's not that hard and no mistakes were made. Every School in each Conference is where it either wants to be and/or is being highly rewarded for the current situation. The MW needs to get on it's knees and suck AFLV's manhood for not bailing out. Otherwise, UH would not be joining as a full member and you would be begging numerous far flung lower level Schools to come west 1 Quote "We don't have evidence but, we have lot's of theories." And having been in that position once before when USU stuck with the WAC instead of immediately joining the MWC, they got left behind by Fresno St and Nevada. I'm not surprised that USU didn't repeat that mistake when they had an offer on the table. Had they turned it down, I wouldn't have been surprised to see the PAC move to the next school on the list and ask.

I think the plan was to invite UNLV and USU only. They Pac6 drew the line there Quote "We don't have evidence but, we have lot's of theories." agswin
I am in the camp of first looking at a proven winner solution like a Brian Harsin at Utah State. I think he is a fine coach and understands FBS Football in the Mountain and Western parts of the US. I also really believe that as Utah State makes the transition the PAC, we need to be dialed in and hitting our stride as a Program.. Brian Harsin likely does not even want to coach another 15 or 20 years. He probably wants to go another 5 or 7. So if Harsin would take a 33 year old quality young coach like a Nate Dreiling under his wing for a few years as a DC and mentor him ala Morgan Scalley at Utah, I believe USU could then be in very good coaching hands for another 20 years. Compared to the endless treadmill of totally new hires and buyouts every 3-5 years, this strategy makes e sense to me. Would Harsin/Dreilling do it?

Not sure about St Mary’s but that’s a tight looking Southwestern conference. I can lose the Southwestern-ish, because with GCU, our conference is beautiful and makes sense geographically. For non-football school, I’d add a SoCal school (Long Beach or UC Irvine), or go with a football only NIU as the rumors have it. Nevertheless, I’m proud to be part of this conference. I dont see any more basketball only schools as Football $$ is more important and the MWC needs a 9th team to get to 8 conference games. Personally I still think if New Timezones are the goal the MWC would be better off by adding both Dakota States along with NIU, it would give you a solid Eastern wing of the Conference with 3 options to air games in the CTZ: SJSU..................Wyoming UNLV..................Air Force Nevada..............*GCU Hawaii...............**NIU New Mexico......**NDSU UTEP..................**SDSU * = No Football ** = Football Only Granted I still think adding both Montana and Dakota State schools would be the best option, but at least for now that doesn't seem like it will ever happen. In terms of Football only options the Dakota States would get you 2 CTZ teams who have National recognition, both Montanas would be great in every metric outside of TV presence (already covered and aware $$ matters most unfortunately) and all 4 bring awesome fan bases that travel well and would look good on TV. All have facilities that would fit in well with the current MWC and I think it would be a good looking Conference as well: SJSU....................Wyoming UNLV....................Air Force Nevada................Montana Hawaii.................MSU New Mexico........*NDSU UTEP....................*SDSU **GCU Gives you 11 Full Members that wouldn't adversely affect basketball to much (still a 2+ bid league imo) and gets you back up to 12 schools in Football. I think also gives you alot more potential for growth and a rise in Status as a Conference then adding NIU and Toledo, especially if NDSU in particular (could become the new "Boise") continue their winning ways
