No, the bridge fire stated back at the Denver airport meeting in 1998!  Sucks being backstabbed and left behind doesn't it?  Since 2010, when Boise joined the MWC and soon thereafter (within 4 yrs) FSU, Nevada, Hawaii, SJSU, and Utah St joined.  Since that time there have been 14 title games in football and only once (SJSU in 2020) has any of the leftover MWC schools won a football title.  Unfortunately, football drives the bus for money and TV.

And television markets...

WTF does that have to do with Trucker State. You're unhinged.

The leftovers have only sent five squads to the Title game as well.

I wonder if the WCC has any regret helping the PAC-2 with the non-football scheduling?

At least Gloria saw this coming and prepared.

Gonzaga had been talking about leaving the WCC for years. So, the WCC added Grand Canyon and Seattle. WCC commish Stu Jackson said GU kept him in the loop throughout the process and that GU leaves with absolutely no hard feelings.

No hard feeling at one of the best programs west of the Mississippi the last couple decades leaving your conference, replaced by GCU (for now) and Seattle?  Ok.  Does anyone really believe that?

Call him a liar if you wish, but here is a quote from WCC commissioner Stu Jackson on GU leaving:

“They were very transparent about conversations and shared what they could along the way during discussions with both of those conferences,” Jackson told me. “It wasn’t a surprise call. I congratulated them. I wished them the best.”

OK, let's be realistic and respectful in our responses and have a civil conversation of what pushed things over the top or held programs back.

If your program has been invited to join the PAC, please give us your 3-4 main justifications that you think made a difference.

If your program was not invited to join the PAC, please share what you think are the main reasons. why not.

We have all heard the responses from the AD's and University Admins.

I am interested in what the Fans have to say.

Nevada was not invited to join the Pac.  I am sure the Pac 2 had some criteria for who they wanted.

I have zero hard feelings about any of this..We ain't curing cancer here in G-5 world.  Life will go on.

I mean, we see quotes like that all the time, from commissioners, ADs, coaches.  Is it realistic to not be hurt by the best program out west leaving?  Common sense says no.

The initial cut off line was pretty clear--WSU and OSU chose the conference's biggest 4 markets.

USU was the one school who was winning on the field, but not in the top markets--and since they were willing to pay their own fees.  Easy choice.

SDSU: (in no particular order)

Location

Football/MBB success (not counting last two years for football) 😉

Facilities, including new stadium

Academics - R1 should be achieved in 2025 or 6 and Innovation District on the way at SDSU West next to Snapdragon

We suck in football. Hoping our new coach will continue to turn this train wreck around. Can't help feeling bitter towards the defectors, but I would likely be fine with all of this if the Lobos had been invited. All of this realignment blows.

Outside opinion but I think the PAC screwed up by not inviting UNLV along with the 1st four MWC defectors, by not doing so it created the perfect opportunity for the MWC to keep them.

Miscalculation.  They thought they had the MWC on the ropes and any school would jump next if asked.  It's kind of cool how UNLV (and Air Force) helped save the MWC.  And i still don't see the money coming that justifies a split.  But we'll know soon enough.  Going out and saying you are going to get the best cable deal for your new teams and then getting Logan, Utah over Las Vegas, Nevada?  I think if they had snagged UNLV then the MWC would look very different as more dominoes would have fallen involving multiple conferences.

I’ve had a few “20% outcomes” and so far the way Gloria and the MW has handled this, it is approaching 20% outcome territory.

If this game was played 10 times, the MW would lose 8 out of 10 and be totally pillaged. But real life is played out once.

I would post this on the Gloria should get fired thread, but I’m too lazy to find it.

I wouldn't overlook the possibility that GCU is only flirting with the MWC as a negotiating ploy to pressure the WCC to give them back a big chunk of the $16 million they paid to get their WCC invitation.

After all, GCU isn't just a school.  It's a business.

I think Mongoose brings up a fair point.

The priorities at these diploma mills are realistically just a bit different.  That is just reality.

If they can earn their chunk of bread AND make it look sorta like you actually had to do SOMETHING to get the sheepskin, every body wins.

It reminds me a lot of the old legacy bowl system before the NCAA grasped the concept of an actual tournament to crown a champion.
