Time to call NDSU and SDSU

Yup, at this point if the above NIU rumors are true (moving to the MWC) they could also add NDSU and SDSU as Football only. Garuntees at least one or more CTZ games each week for TV, I'd also add Grand Canyon for the 9th full member as it gives you a new State and Large Market, in addition to a good Basketball program:

SJSU...............New Mexico

Hawaii.............UTEP

UNLV................*NIU

Nevada............*NDSU

Wyoming.........*SDSU

Air Force.........Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon does not play football.  Can't be a full member.  Adding them for olympic sports makes sense, though

Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA will join as soon as the PAC finishes its media rights analysis with its partners…expected in early January.

Though, the brass ring is still USF and UCONN who MAY still join, but only if the three listed above join first.

None of the schools you mentioned are leaving their situation for anything other than p4.

I would like to get this thread back on track and hear from utenation about how much better Utah is than Central Florida.  They are both sitting 1-3 in the Big 12, but that season ender in Orlando doesn't look like the slam dunk I was told it would be.  The Utes might even need a win to get bowl eligible.

Evidence of actual invite seems to be missing?

I'm not interested in that supermodel (or slightly out of my league person) who has never talked to me or tried to give me her phone number either.

I don't see any TV partner/s making a deal with them, unless they can be assured that they (the pac) have a commitment from whomever. They can't offer a contract on a "concept" of a full league. They'll need to know about the added market; the school/team that's added is secondary to that market. that's added..

Some have been saying that for a couple hundred pages here.. it’s not a good situation for the pac.

Did anybody notice that both the MWC and PAC12 have slowed down with invites? I bet the TV partners and insiders are talking to both conferences and telling them to expand with these selected schools only. If your both can't get selected schools that we think will add value, then a merger is back on the table.

Now MWC is targeting football only schools NIU and Toledo? PAC 12 has Non-Football Gonzaga and I bet they will get other great basketball schools. I could be wrong, but this seems too coincidental to me and leaves the merger option open?

I wish this wasn't the case, but there's no chance at this point of a merger. Too much money has been promised to the remaining 7, there's too much distrust on both sides and too much of a power struggle.

On both sides? This is all brought about by the pac schools. The MW helped them, then they stabbed the MW in the back by conspiring with the first four MW schools, to kill the MWC. Ego and pride from the now pac schools, is why we are here now. The MWC can not ever trust any of the pac schools again. The fire started on that side of the bridge.

And none of those move the needle to push them to an AQ status.   It will be a real good non-AQ conference though.

AQ status is a relic of the past. The top five conference champions get in automatically and the PAC conference champion will be top five every single year. Guaranteed. And some years they will even be top four.

I wouldn't rule out anything, but a merger seems highly unlikely given how everything unfolded and the MWC now adding UTEP and Hawaii as a full time member.  Could it happen?  Sure.  My guess is MWC adds at least 2 more, pick from 4-5 schools that are mentioned over and over, and PAC ends up having to snag a Texas State or Sac State to get their full members up.  I don't see the AAC schools in play at this point for PAC, or UConn as been mentioned in this thread.  Edit, the PAC may have to overpay to get a Memphis and spend cash that wasn't planned for.  I don't see the new PAC or MWC contracts justifying how this mess all went down.  Lessons learned i suppose as a merger last year seemed to be the best option by far.  Egos and all i guess.

No, the bridge fire stated back at the Denver airport meeting in 1998!  Sucks being backstabbed and left behind doesn't it?  Since 2010, when Boise joined the MWC and soon thereafter (within 4 yrs) FSU, Nevada, Hawaii, SJSU, and Utah St joined.  Since that time there have been 14 title games in football and only once (SJSU in 2020) has any of the leftover MWC schools won a football title.  Unfortunately, football drives the bus for money and TV.
