Even if UNLV leaves there would be enough $ for the MWC to survive and it seems there is a good chance it will. Air Force would probably stick around due to UNM and Wyoming. If it does happen however beggars can't be choosers: UTEP..............NMSU Montana........MSU Sac State.......Idaho NDSU.............SDSU Hawaii (full member) All would be viable and affordable options to keep the MWC intact. Much rather if UW, AFA, and UNM went to AAC or even C-USA. 1 1

I venture the powers that be at USU weren't going to let that happen again. The MWC, until recently, was a great fit. However with Suds, Spuds, Prime Jr. and the Dogs leaving, the MWC was no longer stable so we jumped shop. I personally wish the P2 had merged with the MWC. In any event, this is temporary. AAA football is coming and the have-nots will realign once again--sooner than later--and the deserting 5+1 will have paid a lot of money for no reason. We'll all be back together.

IF anything, Utah State should be so grateful that the PAC embarrassed themselves and did a hail Mary reaching out to a school… that has no value and brings nothing to the new conference. If the baggies didn’t accept it… we all know another dreg would once the invitation arrived. It’s looking to be the MW 2.0, just an expensive one to build.

Why mess with FCS teams out west at all. Just take the last 4 standing and join NMSU/UTEP for a western wing to CUSA. You still get 6 schools out west, Liberty has deep pockets, and you cut down on travel back east. La Tech has been in the WAC. W Kentucky has decent programs. Why mess with 4 or more FCS schools. Maybe it's too simple. If the MWC had kept the losses to 4 or even 5, sure rebuild. But losing possible 6-7? Just join up with CUSA and call it a day. There will me more movement in a few years anyway. AAC made the right call not joining with PAC in my opinion.
WasatchAggie
^^^ We have a bigger TV market than the Spuds and Dogs, had the 4th most TV viewership and have brought in the 3rd most revenue over the last few years. The P12 looking to Memphis and company was always a pipe dream. USU was always in the picture from a realistic perspective. That being said, I'd be upset if I were you too. We belong in the same conference

We belong in the same conference I’m not upset… teams are leaving and paying out the wazu to build a MW 2.0. The schools staying will be fine and make bank the next couple of years. The PAC will get maybe a million more per year because as you said, you and your fellow schools departing don’t have great viewerships… but hey! A perennial power “sisters of the poor” conference was created wooo!

That isn't how it works..The conference with the deeper pockets raids the conference with fewer resources. The MWC is getting a ton of $ from U$C and all of the other revenue schools from the OG PAC. Now they get to spend it to entice new members. Conference USA doesn't have dick..The people with the $ will want to be in charge.

What FBS teams are left in the upper western part of US? None. No is coming from AAC. The PAC couldn't get them. So the MWC is going to poach FCS teams from the Big Sky and a couple Texas team from CUSA - maybe? Sounds rough, even if that is exactly what they are planning to do. Congrats to the PAC2 for destroying the MWC i guess. Maybe the upcoming contract will help justify it.
NorthWestCowboy
Just read on the Aggie message board that they are like the cat that BSU and SDSU dropped off along the highway and found it's way home the next day. 415hawaiiboy
The Benny board fans (at least one of them) seem to think all this cost them was $40MM for the 4. So the $80MM is all being paid by the MWC schools. I find that hard to believe, but if so, that is financial malfeasance.
RebelRobert
Told all of you that adding Utah State and SJSU was the day the MWC died.
