415hawaiiboy
If AF goes to AAC, could affect the Commander and Chief game exclusive time slot they have.
thedude15
Yea to me air force and hawaii as football only to aac makes a lot of sense. That would probably open up unlv (if the state let's them go without nevada) to the Pac.

bleachedwheat
Pac-12 expansion phase 1 add 3 teams Football and 1 Basketball. Wazzu, Oregon State, Boise, Fresno, CSU, SDSU..... add UNLV, New Mexico and UTSA in all sports Grand Canyon in Basketball only That is 8 conference games in football and 18 in basketball. People want Gonzaga but i think the big 12 adds the Zags and Uconn in basketball only. Pac-12 expansion phase 2 after a few years of stabilization. Add 3 teams football and 1 Basketball again. Wazzu, Oregon State, Boise, Fresno, SDSU and UNLV in western conference plus Grand Canyon in Basketball only CSU, New Mexico, UTSA... add Tulane, Memphis, USF in eastern conference plus Wichita State in Basketball only 5 games in division plus 3 in other conference for football. 12 in division plus 7 in other conference in Basketball Pac-12 expansion phase 3 after ACC loses some teams or SMU and Cal leave for travel reasons. Add 4 in Football Wazzu, Oregon State, Boise, Fresno, SDSU, UNLV, CSU and Cal in football and Grand Canyon in Basketball only New Mexico, UTSA, Tulane, Memphis, USF, SMU, UAB and Liberty in football and Wichita State in Basketball only 7 games in division plus 2 in other conference for football. 16 in division plus 4 in other conference in Basketball
bleachedwheat
If I am right and UNLV and New Mexico leave for the PAC-12, I think Air Force would go to the AAC to replace UTSA. Hawaii would join the Big West in all sports Mountain west would be down to 4 schools but hold it together and the new conference looks like this San Jose State, Nevada, Wyoming and Utah State... add Sam Houston State, Louisiana Tech, UTEP and NMSU from Conf USA then add Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana and Montana State from Division 2 to make a 12 team Conference. If they wanted to go to 16 for some reason I think they would add Sac State, NDSU, SDSU and either N. Arizona or Portland State. I think Conference USA will be disintegrated after that. Jacksonville State and FIU will be picked up by SunBelt to give them 16 teams. Kennesaw State drops back down to Div 2. Liberty goes independent until the PAC-12 picks them up in the future. Middle Tenn State and Western Kentucky join the MAC along with Uconn and Umass in football to give the MAC 16 teams also. Notre Dame finds out that the new playoff format is better for them if they are in a conference and finally joins the ACC to give them 16 teams again. The End.

Beaver-Poke
An established conference like the WCC is not going to allow Grand Canyon or Gonzaga to play basketball in another conference and still maintain conference membership in other sports. It's all or nothing.

I can see UNLV going to Pac, but you are high if you think the worst team in football (UNM) for years now, would even be on their radar. It is all about football. The Lobos will end up in Siberia if the MWC dissolves.

Quote "Make like a tree and scram" - Rosegreen Your administration is the reason why our basketball league is bleeding out currently. If you didn't insist on San Jose being in the MWC, so you guys would have someone that votes similar to SDSU, every team in the MWC wouldn't have to play 2 games vs. a team with a 330 RPI ranking EVERY season. bleachedwheat
New Mexico is a dud in Football but with increased revenue and recruiting they have the potential to turn it around in just a few years. They are an R1 University They have a 39,000 capacity stadium They play in a city with over a half million people, that would be top 5 in the new PAC They are regional, the inception of the PAC I think travel cost will be important; for the beginning anyway. The Pit is as good a venue as anywhere out west. It's not likely but I wouldn't write them off completely.
