The PAC isn’t done. I’m sure they are in discussions with Gonzaga and the best of the of rest. Not sure who that is Tulane, Memphis and ???.  Probably another couple MWC schools UNLV and New Mexico

I'd go no on new mexico. Not enough football support. UNLV has to figure out how to escape Reno cuz we aren't taking that trash.

With all the fees they're paying, the PAC couldn't afford more than 4. They're expecting any future applicant to pay for all of their fees themselves. Or to get 2 from NOT the mountain west

NIU should be the top candidate. The Big Ten started this, the PAC-?? should take the best available team as a middle finger to the Big Ten it just happens that the team is in their backyard.

It’s not necessarily over for UNLV.

If the PAC goes to 12, they have their West Division. With their East Division comprised of NIU, Memphis, Tulane, and 3 Texas schools (UTSA, Rice, North Texas).

The PAC can always expand to 14, adding UNLV to the West Division and an additional school to the East Division.

If The PAC could land Memphis and Zags that would be a huge shot in the arm to solidify BB.

Add the east division as suggested by Big awesome plus Gonzaga that is a solid conference. A lot of people won’t like this but Grand Canyon for basketball only along with Liberty all sports would be a good add. Liberty has a ton of money to compete give them the SMU deal no venue for years.

Curious if MWC will invite Hawaii as a full member since they will only have 7 members for Olympic sports? With this breakup, I don’t see Gonzaga wanting to join the MWC now. As a Hawaii fan, I’m also having second thoughts about the Olympics sports being in the MWC and big west has treated us well and it’s a very stable conference.

I'll go in a different direction. @HawaiiMongoose,  now do you think there's a chance for the Big West to add Nevada, USU and SJSU?

Without SDSU, CSU and Boise (and possibly UNLV), MWC hoops is no longer the attraction it has been the last few years. No Big Sky, UTEP or NMSU additions will move the needle.

I like it. I've been championing GCU's addition for years. But the new PAC isn't inviting them if they have any hope of getting CalFord back.

Nevada and USU to the big west would be huge. If Gonzaga jumps ship you would be in a position to poach Grand Canyon

Given what just happened I think it's at least worth a discussion, even if only for a minute.  They have to keep all options open.

@jdgaucho , I think it's possible if the following plays out:

- The Pac grabs UTSA, UNT, Memphis and Tulane from the AAC

- The AAC backfills with Air Force, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Texas State

- After it becomes clear that Stanford and Cal aren't candidates to return, the Pac brings in UNLV and USF

That would leave the MWC with just Hawaii, Nevada, USU and SJSU.  In that situation it's likely UTEP and NMSU would chose to stick with CUSA and the Big Sky and Dakota schools would lose interest in moving up, pretty much ending the ability of the MWC to rebuild.  The only realistic option remaining for Nevada, USU and SJSU would be to join the Big West and (along with Hawaii) go independent in football with a mutual scheduling agreement.

Is the PAC6 going to get P whatever status for scheduling purposes. You are going to have to schedule 7 non conference games.

Im guessing there will be more teams in by then

My take is this whole thing is just a ploy to get to at least 9 teams from the MWC to join so there are not exit fees to pay.

So, yeah, I think it is likely 5 more teams from the MWC will bail to the new PAC, this no exit fees and dissolution of the MWC.

perhaps, but doesn't that bring lawsuits into play?
