At the MWC media days Gloria was asked about a 2025 scheduling agreement with the Pac-2 and she responded that it needs to get done before the 2024 season starts. It appears that the Pac-2 are screwed because all but 2 MWC teams have completed their 2025 schedules with a couple having 13 games scheduled. I would imagine that most other conferences are about complete as well. The Pac-2 are sitting at 5 and 6 scheduled games for 2025. At this point they will probably have to pay a team to drop a game and then pay again to add them. That's sure to kill their recruiting and burn through their windfall quickly.

It appears that the MWC is closing the door on a reverse merger and if the Pac-2 join the conference they will probably have to pay an entry fee. They took a very bad situation and by their own doing made it much worse. At this pace they will become an irrelevant G-5 in a couple of years.

I get that it sucks to lose Power status but it looks like they didn't learn their lesson from their time in the PAC and making stupid decisions. 

Granted according to their forums the P2 are trying to have a scheduling alliance with the B12? Something about trying to have each school get around 4 Big12 each schools for 2025

The B-12 scheduling agreement is not happening for 2025 because they have a total of 3 games available and the Pac-2 need 13 more games for their 2025 season. The MWC has 2 games available and SMU and CalFord have 3 games available. If they got all of those they still need 5 more games. They will have to go after one of the other G-5 conferences because they both have already scheduled and FCS team for 2025.

It just really feels OSU/WSU are shooting themselves in the foot with regards to MWC.  If MWC don't intend to do a 2025 schedule help like they did in 2024, that speaks volumes as the current state of the relationship.

I completely agree, they will probably be forced to endure independence for a year or two. As independents they will lose their tourney credits and play for nothing. With a small media contract they will hemorrhage millions. They don't have BYU following and are more inline with UMass or Connecticut. Connecticut does have great BB and were once a P-6 school.

From a football perspective, say they got a football only invite.  What do they bring exactly?  We already have the inside track on CFB playoff spot, so realistically theyd be two more to split the money with.  And remember the payouts are not tied to who goes.  It's a flat payout regardless if we send someone or not.  Basketball MWC is a really good conference and they add nothing there that we dont already have.  The rest are non-revenue generating sports.  The cities of Corvalis/Spokane, media guys are saying it might increase our media payout by 10% max.  Which when you factor in getting less $$ per bball credit, splitting CFB playoff 2 more ways and flying non-revenue sports to Oregon/Washington, its debatable if that media increase is enough.

So if youre MWC president, why would you pay millions to leave a stable MWC for a worse bball conference and the same CFB access?  Just to say youre PAC#?  Makes no sense.  And the reverse, why would MWC presidents want two schools who add little, clearly have a superiority complex and dont want to be there..?

The longer this drags out, I fear the worse its going to get for OSU/WSU.  The 2025 scheduling is eeeehhh, wow the relationship is frosty compared to a year ago.  I do hope they get added as I think they fit regionally/culturally but man, its not looking good right now.

If the PNW twins don’t join our conference, hopefully MW ADs resist scheduling them as independents. I always thought it was bizarre to give a lifeline to BYU by filling half their Indy schedule. Let them fly to the likes of Kalamazoo, Muncie and Jonesboro.

It's amazing that in 3 weeks the Pac-2 went from option 1 joining a P-4 conference, option 2 rebuilding the Pac-12 and their last option 3 a reverse merger with the MWC. Now they are at option 4 which they didn't even consider, going Indy and option 5 joining a G-5 conference.

Well Fresno just signed agreement with Rice for 26 and 27 so they are booked till 2029. our new AD is not waiting for the PAC-2. I'm sure they can change their schedule late but at least were covered.

There isn't an issue with the schedule for anyone if they do a late scheduling agreement.  Just like this year, you can drop a conference game and insert WSU or OSU.  Wyoming is only playing 7 MW games in reality this year and WSU.  Then there are still 4 OOC games.
