Oh, I liked that you did. I would never try to police that. Just a little ironic a that a BYU fan was the first to the party.

I think ASU has Arizona.

not sure about if Colorado wants an old Big 8 rival or Utah.   their old rival was Nebraska

I'm surprised if it isn't BYU that they wouldn't keep CU as their rivalry like the PAC tried to do.

i agree. 

I am surprised that Colorado and Utah passed on playing on rivalry week, unless they had no choice and it was driven by TV networks and ratings

This is very simple. We have 1 rival. BYU. We also didn’t make the B12 conference schedule. The first few years, it takes some time to get all the scheduling quirks out in to an even pattern with previous OOC arrangements. 

For example we play Baylor this year as an OOC game to finish up an OOC home and home series. 
 

I have no idea if they will move the Holy War to the end of the season in the future. I don’t think it really matters. The game will be a ratings boost anytime of the year. 
 

We won’t play UCF again until 2027 so the conference obviously doesn’t view this as a rivalry.

The Big 12 apparently wants to spread out the rivalry games across the season instead of having all of them play the same week.  The idea is to improve the ratings for each of the games.

Utah/BYU hasn’t been the last game of the season since 2010. Nobody on our side is losing sleep over this. We are pretty much used to it. 
 

Don’t get me wrong, the BYU game is a big deal, especially for the state and IMO instantly becomes the best rivalry in the conference. The TV ratings will show this too. 
 

But….

 

With all the changes in college athletics, realignment, NIL, transfer portal, TV networks running the show and destroying fan favorite rivalires, folks just kinda show up and play when told. Unfortunately. 
 

For 2024, I think most Ute fans have our game against Okie state circled this year. Nov 9th isn’t too bad for the BYU game and we will know what both teams are all about at that point.

Now I'm curious.  Which rivalries in the Big 12 do you think are better?

I tend to agree that Utah/BYU becomes the best rivalry in the conference.  

The only other candidates are TCU/Baylor and Arizona/Arizona St.  I guess KU and KSU.
