I don’t have Bama in any of my scenarios. I hope they get stuffed by UGA.

I was just pointing out, teams without a conference title with the same record as other 1 loss teams have made the playoff.

Not sure what to think of FSU/UL tonight.  FSU is hobbled and I think Louisville is a bit overrated this year and coming off a loss to 5 loss Kentucky at home.

There wasn't another 1 loss team with a conference title.

1. Alabama (12-1)

2. Michigan (12-1)

3. Georgia (12-1)

4. Cincinnati (13-0)

5. Notre Dame (11-1)

6. Ohio State (10-2)

7. Baylor (11-2)

8. Ole Miss (10-2)

9. Oklahoma State (11-2)

10. Michigan State (10-2)

11. Utah (10-3)

12. Pittsburgh (11-2)

Earlier you said this:

“It would be criminal to put in teams with the same record that didn't win conference titles and I don't think they would”

UGA was not a conference champ in 2021. Alabama was the SEC champ that year. Both had 1 loss before playoff selection. Both made it to the playoff.

Because there wasn't another 1 loss conference champ to jump Georgia.  2021 isn't an apt comparison to this year.

No.

Well cfp12 with 1+ bids is fine too, what is the new distribution?

Top 5 (SEC/BIG10/BIG12/ACC/AAC) each get 1 bid, Pac 2 still need a road to the playoffs, 6 more spots for the next best top 6 as per the cfb rankings or +1 for 5+7?

Does that mean the pac 2 would have to finish in the top 12/13/14 in the national rankings to have a chance at the cfp under the pac banner?

Or are they being punished for something, to not have any shot at the cfp at all?

They need to explain the distribution and whether the pac 2 ex 12 can qualify for the playoffs with the right cfb rankings..

Just a clarification, and then also what financial impact having NCAA board power and cfb board power has or will have...

And then, if MWC is to be ranked as top 6 or a MWC team has to be ranked in the top 12/13/14/15 to have a shot at the playoffs..

It's all rather unclear to me at least..

Let’s see if they stick with their guns.  My gut tells me Texas doesn’t get it.

I don’t think Alabama will win, but I would sure like to see what they would do if Alabama, Georgia and Texas are all sitting at 12-1.

That would be crazy. Bama would have the best win in title games but Texas beat Bama.  And do you drop a team that has won 29 straight games(UGA) out of the top 4?

My hunch is they would take two and leave Florida State out, but which two?

There has been a lot of talk on national sports radio about Florida State. Many are saying they shouldn’t be in the playoff even if they beat Louisville. As one commentator pointed out, “This is why we went to a committee instead of using computers.”  FSU doesn’t pass the eye test versus any of the other top 10 teams.

National sports radio...

It gives me a headache just trying to think down to your level

In a 5+7 model, if the MWC+PAC2 does not get ranked higher than the SEC, BIG10, Big12, the ACC, and the AAC..any MWC team will have to be ranked in the top 12 to have a shot at the playoffs..as, the top 6 will obviously be ranked in the top 12..

It means teams that include any MWC any sun belt any other so called non P5 team will never have a realistic shot at the playoffs..

So teams like OSU, Hawaii, UNLV..

Lol that is what they are doing..

And an expanded playoffs means more inclusivity, not less. Is that in question?

I mean the Pac2+MWC is close with the AAC..is that the fallout?

If UGA keeps playing this way it looks like we are about to find out.

I was missing your point earlier. I didn’t bother to look at the records of the next conference champ. ND was 11-1, but no conference title.  1 loss was the key.

I think eye test is looked at but conference title weighs more.
