Off topic but...

Mods, does this mean we have to let @Orange come back?

I know some of you guys don't like him but I've always liked him and got along with him. We never fight.  He's a very loyal OSU fan and has a lot of sport's knowledge under the hood.

Politics, he definitely gets fired up.   But if he wants to come here, I think he would add to the board.  Times change over the years and I think he's somewhat misunderstood.

Is there any info about Olys? Will the PAC2 be playing an MW BB schedule, for example?

Dellinger mentions in his article...

For now, the scheduling alliance is football only. Oregon State and Washington State are in discussions with other leagues to create affiliate memberships for their other sports.

So its possible that Oregon St and Wash St could be looking for affiliate membership with the WCC/Big West for their non-FB sports.

Yeah, not my call. And I wasn't here when he was posting. I just know he has some good qualities.  Just a random thought really.

I honestly don't think he would come back here.

Any other configuration doesn’t make much sense. Time to drop the leeches.

I see now some of you are OK with schools leaving the Mountain West, as long as it's good for YOUR school.

This makes sense but it should be an 8+1. No reason for a 12-team league to only play seven of a possible 11 conference rivals in a 12-game schedule. OOC scheduling is tough for most MWC schools. Play 8 (or 9) conference games plus either OSU and WSU and scheduling becomes much easier. I'd rather watch a league game than Wofford or UC Davis or Northern Colorado.

SDSU has already dropped their game against Portland State. No problems there.

After thinking this through a little more, I can see why OSU and WSU might prefer to park non-football sports in the WCC or Big West instead of the MWC for the next two years. It will not only minimize travel expense while they continue to negotiate with the MWC over the terms of a full Pac-MWC merger, but will also give the MWC a little less leverage in negotiating those terms.  More specifically, the MWC won’t be in a position to threaten taking away a home for OSU’s and WSU’s non-football sports as a way of squeezing more out of the merger deal.

not buying that.  There is no way they want to leave their oly  sports in the BIG west or WCC either.  NO matter what they are moving in this scenario.  Only point I see is if Big west or WCC gave them access to their conference championships and NCAA autobids.

yeah, I think it's more likely that they just haven't figured out all the details yet

I am kinda surprised the MWC insisted on that penalty, tbh. They are more closely aligned (maybe even unified?) than I previously gave them credit for. I also think Gloria had a lot to do with it. It is obvious she knows they have the PAC 2 over a barrel and has convinced the MWC leadership of that. I wouldn't go up against her in a game of chicken.

I think Gloria has a spine, unlike Hair, and truly leads and lays out the options

I wonder what Hawaii's attitude towards WOSU is.  Because...

... OSU, for example, will need a new home for men's soccer.  The Big West or WCC would fit that bill.

A scheduling alliance, if not outright addition for baseball, would be fruitful for all sides too.

So if they were only staying a year would you give them access to your NCAA autobids?

Huh? If you are actually an Aztec, that would be your mindset as well.

Or maybe you ARE an Aztec but you're one of those defeatist idiots on AM who think the school has no more status nationally than it had when you attended. Or maybe you think because we had one terrible football season in 2023 that nobody will want us. I mean, some of the posts I read on that board exude similar stupidity but those kinds of posters are why I left several years ago.
