Mike Aresco always comes out of the back end smelling like a rose.

Don't be surprised if Air Force and Colorado State re-engage with the AAC.

All of you new Pac 12 schools should be paying homage to George Kliavkoff on "X" at @Kliavkoff.

Kliavkoff is the reason everyone here gets (Pac 12) Golden Tickets. He is Willy Wonka.

Wyoming, you will love your Golden Ticket!!

When was the last time a school was invited from a CUSA, MAC or old Sun Belt quality conference? Never. Why? Because good schools float to the top playing against the toughest competition.

It could take the AAC 10 years or more to get anywhere near where it has been, and that is just a cold hard reality. Or it may never recover. The AAC has been greatly helped and greatly hurt by existing in a mid to east coast foot print where so much population and so many power conferences are.

Memphis has worked hard to get better in FB and BB, and unfortunately it hasn’t quite paid off. But it’s all going to go to waste if if stays in a low level G5 conference.

The aac is still the best by all objective measures.  Sure they aren’t at their peak they were the past few years, but they were just that much better than the competition to where they can withstand a rebuild and still be the NY6 rep.

I’m not disrespecting these programs. I’m saying there is no TV money for the 8th favorite program in their respective markets. They are in big markets dominated by big programs.

I agree...I have no understanding why the ACC added SMU...even for "free".  The ACC is seemingly also pursuing "warm body" expansion just because a school is in Texas.  Look at the SMU football record over decades.  I don't get the hard on for schools just because they are in Texas.

UTEP as a New Pac 12 member is intriguing.

EVERYONE IS RACING TO TEXAS. The ACC is racing to Texas. The SEC is racing to Texas. The Big 12 is the P4 Texas Stalwart.

Texas State and UTEP are still on the proverbial board for a Pac 12/MWC poach.

This makes a lot of sense from the standpoint of providing NM with regional foes.

Yes.

Others and I have been saying this for a while now.

Moreover, I think both schools would agree to join at a much discounted payout rate for a few years. So, despite the naysayers, I believe the money is there.

Should still take UTSA, Memphis, and Navy’s temperature, but adding UTEP and Texas State — in a year both schools actually have good teams — seems a no brainer.

It is economics…

You don’t ignore the second largest state in the Union that also happens to be the 3rd fastest-growing state.

This is even more true if college football happens to be a religion in Texas, which it is.

Two of the following 4 are really no brainer adds — if you can get them: UTSA, Texas State, UTEP, North Texas.

At least two of those would join at a discounted rate.

Are you high or something?

No offense to the handful of great schools and teams still in the American, but most of the rabble  you have added belongs in the FCS.

UTEP is only sort of in Texas

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Have to agree with this take.  So the ACC is adding SMU so some of their schools get to play in Texas for 5 or so games?  Is that really going to convince top Texas HS players to go to an ACC team?  I just don't see it.

Nevada was apparently in the bottom 3 as far as Calford was concerned (supposedly we were too close to their markets or something dumb like that), but when it was the PAC-10 that were left, our ranking in the pecking order varied between #5 and #6 out of 12, and appears to be about the same thing with the PAC-2.

So I’m not worried about getting left behind, and no one should get left behind. I think we do need to propose some minimums when we do come together, and have those put in the bylaws. And failing to meet those over a decent period of time could get you Temple’d.

Having said that, if we’re going to have attendance minimums, the counting method has to be the same and an independent 3rd party determines them. Suddenly, SDSU doesn’t want any attendance minimums. LOL.

SUDS will declare that people disguised as empty seats not being counted goes against the NCAA's inclusivity guidelines.
