Again you are looking at near term media deals where as I am looking at locking up the 5th playoff invite.  Two totally different perspectives.

Agreed.

Closing the reverse merger should be the top priority.

After that, using the momentum to lock up the 5th playoff invite, more or less permanently, should be the main concern.

And, the best way to do that would be to move fast, use the PAC brand and IP to renegotiate the deal, and add a 1-4 quality additional schools to get to 16-18 teams.

So if 9 MW schools vote to disband that would be the end of the MW?  I'm guessing the Pac12 didn't have that provision?  Otherwise there would be no point in the twins holding out to gain Pac assets or for us to join them?

Actually they did have that provision and a meeting was called for next Wednesday that OSU and WSU fear a vote to dissolve the conference and distribute the assets evenly will be called for.

Lol, the next lawsuit should be aimed towards the State of Washington against UW for the breach of agreements that will lead to economic damages for resident taxpayers..

And then they will need to sue the ESPN, Fox, NCAA,etc conglomerate in higher courts for the threat to the integrity of college athletics on behalf of the student athlete. WSU should work hard to give all student athletes the biggest platform they can so everyone can find out what they have to say about all this..ie all the likeness rights, other adequate comp, and the other particulars for the modern day "athlete-student"

..because let's just call it what everyone wanted it to be but not say..

...sue the NCAA on behalf of the student athlete for not just this, but all historical grievances faced by the student athlete...and demand a reworked model for the modern "athlete student" for them, built with them..

They are not just walking away like some of you genius predicted.

Why would they walk away?  There is serious cash on the table.  This is all being driven by greed.  Why leave money on the table if there is a legal way to take some of it while you join your new conference?

With the intent of "exploring opportunities to sustain the Pac-12," the schools are asking for a board meeting of all 12 members Wednesday to be canceled and for legal clarity to be given on who has voting rights to control the future of the league.

Earlier this week, WSU’s Schulz and OSU’s Murthy sent a letter to Kliavkoff and the other 10 presidents expressing concern that:

“… the recent correspondence from the Commissioner’s office creates the misimpression that representatives of all Conference members are eligible to serve on the Board, participate in Board meetings, and vote on Board matters. That is incorrect.”

It adds:

“Indeed, when (UCLA) and (USC) gave notice of their withdrawal from the Conference in June 2022, the Conference deemed their representatives ineligible to participate on the Board or vote on any Conference matters. The fact that eight more members have now given notice of their withdrawal from the Conference does not change this rule.”

The Pac-12 took the same approach to board membership this summer. After Colorado announced on July 27 that it was leaving for the Big 12, chancellor Phil DiStefano was excluded from subsequent Pac-12 board meetings that occurred before Aug. 4, when five more schools departed, according to the complaint.

In his statement to the court, WSU’s Schulz says the 10 outgoing schools “are now motivated to dissolve the Pac-12—against which their new conferences will otherwise compete beginning next year — and distribute its assets.”

Additionally, the letter from WSU and OSU to the conference sought confirmation that:

— The Sept. 13 board meeting would be canceled.

— The 10 departing schools have relinquished their voting rights.

— The presidents of WSU and OSU are the “only duly authorized Board members.”

Washington State and Oregon State requested a response to their letter by Friday (today) at 10 a.m.

Soon after the deadline, the legal process began in Whitman County, home to WSU.

Decimated? No. But potentially raided by the Big XII? Yes. Yormark is not going to stop long-term at 16 teams.

IMHO, 16-18 teams should be the goal for 2024 and beyond. And, Nevarez has already stated that 16 teams is the ideal goal.

The top 6 conferences will send their champion to the CFP. (There is at least some talk that might drop to the top 5.)

With the reverse merger, we would be the “5th best” at present. Aresco is going to try to do all he can to change that.

It would be wise to try to add a team or two in Texas — especially if those schools agree to a reduced payout over a period of years — or even little to no payout until the contracts are renegotiated.

Big 12 has no interest in MWC schools if they did, they would already be gone, there is no threat from AAC either, there is no one to raid MWC anymore with Pac-12 schools leaving. She can say 16 schools is ideal but that also doesn't mean to expand just to expand either.

The CFP is going to be changed, that is already a given its just when they finally get it passed. Schools aren't going to leave AAC unless MWC offers them something more than AAC is offering them, they will need to offer them more money than they are getting or something along those lines.

It does all come down to money, that will dictate on what happens, nothing else will. If TV partners say do this and we will give you a decent bump up, MWC will probably move forward, if TV partners say only a modest bump with WSU and OSU and not more for anyone else that will dictate what MWC do as well.

I'm guessing they didn't get a response by 10 am since they filed soon after.

To dissolve the Pac, 9 of the 12 schools would have to vote on it just like with MWC
