I wouldn't mind moving back, now that the kids are in college. As half man knows, the fishing is great, the lake is 30 minutes from the south part of town and the ski slopes are way closer than any near Denver. The only downside is the frikkin Californians are paying cash for the average $550k house. Keep talking Tucker.

When friends come to town I usually take them down to the S. Reno horse estates, the Sparks Marina & a tour of the U of Nevada.  They're usually surprised, it's not what they expected.

The Greater Sparks Metroplex has plenty of redeeming qualities.  Besure to tour nearby Lk Tahoe during that trip.

¿What...no stop at the Nat'l Bowling Cntr?, as seen in film "Kingpin."

The lil' river walk downtown is nice & the FREE summer concert in the nearby prk is very enjoyable.

¿Sparks Marina...what's that?  ¿How did I wrk in Reno for a-yr & miss an entire Marina?

Yeah. The growth of the midtown area has really been a nice evolution, too. I love it down there when I visit. So many cool bars and restaurants. I always tell people who go there that if you never leave the downtown casino district, then you really haven't seen Reno.

Yeah.  I could see us moving back to that area once my daughter flies the coup. I love Bend, but Reno has a lot of the same outdoor amenities and my closest friend still lives there. Plus, the size of the city is awfully nice. Big enough to have everything you need, like a good airport. But still small enough to whip around town pretty quickly. And amazingly, it's less expensive than here.

I think Reno has become such a cool place. An underrated gem that a walking bow tie like Tucker would never appreciate.

This is going to be a nice place to visit as well.

1995-'96-ish at NewsChannel8 (KOLO-TV I ABC). Back when Tad & Erin where the main news anchors.  I ran around w/the Sports Directo/Anchorr too.  I saw him twice after I returned to Michigan.  Once when I took a group of clients to Lake Tahoe on our way to a Tigers/Angles game in Anaheim as part of a Reno Air sponsorship & viewer contest I crafted.  And again, in Vegas when his GF from KCRA Sacramento & him landed gigs together at a Vegas network affiliate.  DAMN...I can remember his name for the life of me.  Does any of this ring any bells, from that time period?  Skinny guy...he live around the corner from me on Moana & Skyline.

The studio & offices were in a very unassuming cinder block one-store building in an industrial area the other side of the airport.

I can't remember this guys name either for the life of me, but I remember attending the wedding of our "Cowboy Reporter" at a ranch up near Virginia City.  Local Judge & famous boxing referee Miles Lane officiated the ceremony.

My stay in NoNV was very short.  Just before leaving a Nat'l Rep Firm in Detroit, where KOLO-TV was one of my client stations, I interview for a gig w/FOX Sports.  About 4-5 months into my tenure in Reno, the FOX Sports thing heated up again.  Several months after that, I was headed back to MoTown & we launched a brand new regional sports network carrying a majority of the Red Wings, Pistons & Tiger games, called as "FOX Sports-Detroit," later re-branded as:  "FOX Sports Net- Detroit."

Marina most likely wasn't there when you lived here.  It's the old Helms Pit on the north side of I 80.  You can see it from the interstate.  Right by the Sparks Blvd exit.

¡¡¡ BINGO !!!  Thx...I'm going to see if I can find Dana on The FB.  We lost contact pre-social media & the iPhone Contacts app.

It's sound like you've been in NoNv for a minute.  Didn't Dana leave 3-4 yrs after me for Vegas?  Last I heard in Vegas he wasn't doing Sports any more, just a regular reporter.

I had a HUGE crush on Dana's roommate.  I cute lil' Italian producers who went to 'SC (I think). She humored me & went on a few dates with me & we hung-out that wedding, but nothing ever came of it.  Last I heard she was a lobbyist in Sacto.

Do you remember who that "Cowboy Reporter" was that was married by Mills Lane.  I got the impression he had been at the station much longer than Dana.  ¿A little help @mugtang,  @Slapdad, or @renoskier?  There's a lil; more background two-posts above.

Erin's husband was my roommate's boss, so we'd go out him from time-to-time.  He was a fun guy & produced many of our local commercials & a weekly entertainment show on KOLO-TV.  We has a blast when Crosby, Stills & Nash played the old Reno Hilton parking lot during their Summer Concert series.  That hotel was also one of my NewsChannel8 advertising clients.  Last time I was in the building was late-Oct 2018, when I was on tour with the 30th Anniversary Danzig Halloween Tour.  A-few-wks-later, I was back in town & Mugtang graciously hosted me in his VIP box seats on the 50-yrs-line, where I witnessed your Pack tear apart my poor lil' Rammies limb-by-limb.   :-(

You would probably remember it as the Helms pit, which was next to the truck stop/Casino (Western Village).

This picture was taken during a flood, so they used funds from a super funds grant (tank farms are to the right out of frame and were found to have been leaking for years) to clean up the pit and turn it into the Sparks Marina. Lemons to Lemonade.

Another ¡¡¡ BINGO !!! thanks to @Slapdad.

I think it was like John's 3rd-or-4th marriage.  He was a very charming guy.  His wife was attractive, substantial younger & owned the ranch that hosted the wedding.  Those two threw a GREAT PARTY.  They approached a white gazebo from opposite directions on horseback, dismounted & met Mills who was waiting form them in the middle of the gazebo.  Several horse troughs filled w/all the ice cold beer you could drink.  When that slowed down, a bunch of my co-wrk'rs & I all headed to an old Wild West themed bar in downtown Virginia City with bras stapled to the ceiling.

Every bar in Virginia City has bras on the ceiling. Not really, but they should. Union Brewery Saloon I believe.
