Probably because she doesn't want anyone old enough to be her father? Anyway, I never really got into her music, nor was I really into pop in general. Of course I heard about things like people asking if she was a virgin at 16 on national TV, her very short marriages, her breakdown, etc. But it wasn't that I sought it out, but that it was very hard to avoid at the time.
