Bitterness can be so entertaining...

I don't care enough to be bitter.  Just trying to figure out if anyone is applying any sort of critical thinking skills.

Tell me what is the intrinsic value of TCU?  How many fans in Texas care enough to watch TCU if the outcome doesn't impact UT or OK's fortunes.

How may "T-Shirt" fans does TCU have?

When you have any success, get back to us.  When you can average more than 40k consistently, get back to us.  When anybody cares enough to put you on in prime time, get back to us.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

No you didn't but that's okay. The commissioners of the other leagues and the TV execs won't be able to answer these questions either.  So you're in fast company.

Just to add to this...TCUs attendance was about 44k.  That would make ticket sales about 16 mil.  Dont know what contributions are but our annual revenue is over 100m, which makes those contributions fairly significant.

TCU was not on the USA Today financials page that is the only reason they were left off along with Baylor and any other private school

as to the excuses that some can make

I suppose there is the always popular "let us in the conference and we will show you how much we can get in donations and ticket sales" which of course any conference should meet with "show us now then call us back we will not be waiting by the phone though so if we do not pick up leave a voice mail"

or my favorite that is always on the UH fan forum....."If we were playing Texas and OU our attendance would be huge too".......which if course is always met with "yea for one game a year every other year" or better yet "if your fans only show up to see other teams....well are they your fans of fans of the other team?"

the above excuses always go with the popular G5 refrain of "this coach sucks I am going to stop buying tickets or donating" while ignoring that other programs have donors that give money to get bad coaches FIRED!.....now sure that does not always work, but the answer is money talks and usually gets some results.....no money pretty much always gets the same results

At the end of our MWC run we were averaging 40k.  And that was with 0 visitor support...even SMU only sends token support across to FW.  Meanwhile, our games at SMU are virtual home games.

We have been doing what needs to be done for 20 years.  If we are left without a chair, I get it.  We are a small school.  And the remaining 8, if we stay together, wont be a 'Power' conference anymore.  But we will be right below them.

yea UH fans always used to always say "we did the same as TCU did" then you show them where TCU was ranked more times just prior to getting in the Big 12 than UH was in about the past 30 years

or "well we built a new stajium"......yea 2 years AFTER the Big 12 expanded and mostly on the backs of students

TCU had expanded their stajium once in the MWC and had the plans and CASH in hand to do the major rebuild as they moved to the Big East.....that is how a program PROVES IT instead of the ridiculous "let us in and we will show you" nonsense

Without going into the financial delusions, most football fans no nothing of finances, they're not far from wrong that a number of R8 schools could end up in the AAC in the long run.  Some could end up in the MWC.  There aren't that many seats at the table and most....MOST of the R8 are G5 caliber schools.  They're from small markets, without a national following. They have regional appeal and many don't even dominate their region. Hello ISU.  Hello OK st. Hello Kst AND KU.  Some aren't even worth considering as candidates for P5 slots.  Hello TT!  Is WVU attractive to the ACC?  They could have added them a few years ago and chose not to.

As much as the R8 fan base doesn't want to hear it, they should prepare for the inevitability that most of the will end up in the MWC  or the AAC.

And no, they aren't greater than the sum of their parts.  Staying together just means they'll create the G6.

You are joking right?  The Big12 will still be a Hell of a basketball conference (they average distributing at least $2.5 million a year in NCAA credits), but if we just look at football and AP end of season rankings since 2012 (when West Virginia and TCU were added).

2020: #6 Oklahoma, #9 Iowa St, #10 Texas, #20 Oklahoma St

2019: #6 Oklahoma, #12 Baylor

2018: #4 Oklahoma, #9 Texas, #20 West Virginia

2017: #3 Oklahoma, #9 TCU, #14 Oklahoma St

2016: #5 Oklahoma, #11 Oklahoma St, #18 West Virginia

2015: #5 Oklahoma, #7 TCU#13 Baylor, #20 Oklahoma St

2014: #5 Baylor, #6 TCU, #11 Kansas St

2013: #6 Oklahoma, #13 Baylor, #17 Oklahoma St

2012: #12 Kansas St, #15 Oklahoma

So, 6 (except Texas Tech and Kansas) of the 8 remaining teams have finished ranked in the top 25 in the last 9 years.  With 3 teams finishing the top 10 (TCU 3 times) and  5 of the 6 finishing in the top 15 (Baylor 4 times & Kansas St 2 times).  I'm not sure many of us would have expected that that many of the teams would have finished ranked over the last 9 years: Oklahoma St- 5 times, Baylor- 4 times, TCU- 3 times, Kansas St- 2 times, West Virginia- 2 times, and Iowa St- 1 time (Oklahoma- 8 times & Texas- 2 times).
