AAC Board

Recommended Posts

I have not been to their board in quite a while (likely since the Bowl season), but do they have a couple posters that are spamming them or is it just some of their fans living in their own little world?   In just a few minutes over there I found a number different poster that came up with some real winners just on their first page:

JHS55 had a couple but this one is a real winner- "With CFPs at 12, is it better staying in AAC than big12"

SMUleopold- "Play Expansioon - AAC Could overtake the Pac 12"

Alanda- "Should the AAC pursue a contract with the Peach Bowl?"  (did miss the post on this board about the MWC pursuing a contract with the Fiesta Bowl?)

tufinal4- "West Virginia"  (the poster's opening sentence was- "Under this new 12 team playoff, why wouldn't West Virginia consider an offer from the AAC.")

It also has a thread on the- "American's Letter to the Autonomous 5", you can view all the pages but part of the letter sums it up: "Separation from the G5. Relegated to G5 status when the G5 was established nine years ago, the American has never belonged in that group.  Although this letter and its message are not focused on that group, the fact that the American has separated it's self completely from the other conferences makes it abundantly clear that the American belongs in the autonomy group."

The answer to all questions is "6.89 per year".

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

they can't even do math as it's 6.942 million.

the contract was 83.3m /12 ways = 6.942

the per team payout didn't change so...

And that 50K a year is going to make ALL the difference...

The best part of that board is the ECU and Tulsa fans. They are by far the most vocal.

ECU has a dumbass fan base. It's like ECU, Tulsa, and Tulane don't realize they are only there because Boise State and SDSU allowed it by opening the door for them. Then, the Catholic Seven said "Oh Hell no!" and left because if them. Then, the first football team in the country left them and paid billions to do it. Good job Pirates. That's how little everyone thinks of you.

ECU is cool because they've got a ton of rabid fans... What else can you ask from them?

ECU draws 40-50k historically. Nobody in the MWC, not even Boise draws those numbers.

Cougars fight for Dear ol' UofH

For our alma mater cheer

Fight for Houston University

For victory is near

When the going get so rough and tough

We never worry, CAUSE WE GOT THE STUFF!

So fight! Fight! Fight for Red and White!

And we will go to victory!

They havent drawn more than 36K since 2017.  That's what sucking will do.  Still good numbers, though.  A lot better than Houston has ever done.

They only get over 40k when a NC or VA school is in town.  To act like they are averaging between 40-50 is laughable and unneeded, as for who they are, they attract a very respectable number of fans.

We've drawn 40k+ on many occasions as well. More than anybody outside of 2007 Hawaii has ever done

Funny...I thought the question was average attendance.  Not one off games at Reliant or a couple random games at TDECU.  Y'all have averaged more than 33k only once since your stadium opened.  Pretty pathetic for a big school in a big market.

ECU’s fanbase is larger and more developed ($) than any school in the MWC.  They’ve always moved to the top of their respective conference in short time until the AAC.  They aren’t a problem.  Yet.

Some of these aren’t as crazy as I expect you’d think.  If your sole consideration is getting to the playoff then it would be better to be in the aac than b12 (1st and 4th quote).  $ difference makes the conversation silly though.  Many if not most already believe the AAC has overtaken the PAC (2nd quote) in football so I’m not sure where the issue is.  Third quote is tricky, as the peach bowl commissioners have had very good things to say about the aac representation and the benefits of large markets are shining through, but they have their eyes set on the playoff, not tying themselves to any specific conference, much less the aac.  Now, interestingly enough the Citrus Bowl may come into play, especially if they can’t get in on the playoff rotation next time around.  There’s been talk between FCS and aac leadership.

By the way, how much does the MWC make per school again?

Shade under 4 mil.  Boise more.  Also, we get to renegotiate soon, you guys do not.  If trends remain, our new contract, which again you will not have, will be considerably higher than what the AAC schools will have to settle with for the 5 years after we negotiate.

Signing such a long contract should get Aresco fired.  Dumbest decision since inviting ECU, Tulsa and Tulane.

$3 million less than the AAC bit they get to negotiate another contract on half the time. Our Presidents aren't idiots.

This.  And with so many options opening up and competition for live broadcasts at fever pitch, the AAC screwed themselves out of 5 years of much, much larger money, where the MWC did not.

Nobody is going to pay the MWC more money. None of the schools have produced anything significant within the last few years. No football or basketball accomplishments, no high national TV ratings, nothing.

Best of all, MWC didn't strike a deal with ESPN. ESPN literally runs the sports world

ESPN influence is fading and yeah, the MWC will get a very large raise.  You clearly do not see how the competition for live content is escalating.

Regarding the MWC.  Shit, the color of Boise's field is worth more to media partners than half of the teams in the AAC and their entire athletic department.

The MWC is going  to cash in really soon.  The AAC is ran by idiots who thought it was a good idea to sell their soul and precious years for chump change, to be hosted on a streaming platform.

lulz....
