Again, hand Covid off to Pence, Pence puts Fauci in charge and Trump stays in the background only getting FaceTime to puppet what the scientists say.

Reelected, done deal.

@retrofadeloses his shit for another 4 years.

It was never going to happen. That's like saying if Ted Bundy didn't murder anyone he'd have been a helluva good date.

I will say Fauci himself, is political as hell, he isnt some just the facts Dr.  Thats delusional.

He's been in the position for many years, under both Dem and GOP administrations.  Was he "political as hell" then too?

Fauci got one or two things wrong in the beginning and then quickly corrected himself when new information came out. It doesn't make him corrupt. It makes him human.

To prove him to be corrupt you have to show a whole lot more. Malice, bad motives, conflict of interest...like SOMETHING.

My read is that he was a well intentioned guy who did the best job he could in trying circumstances.

Also, the Biden administration is both more honest and more able to step on it's own dick than any in recent memory. If it hadn't ordered a closer look at whether or not Covid was lab created or lab leaked, this thread wouldn't exist. Just food for thought.

I don't mean to be rude, but I do have a duty of responsibility to the truth and maybe there are some things that Trump didn't do quite right here. Like these things. These are all unforced errors that Trump +++++ed up on.

Let's start with months and months of public statements that Covid was "magically going away" and how we'd rounded the corner as cases continued to rise even while experts predicted second and third wave spikes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4Nx69IOFwY

then of course there was the time when he suggested people inject bleach to treat themselves.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33QdTOyXz3w

And his long flirtation with hydroxychloroquine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Hk3avNp3pM

And his large, indoor, non-socially distanced, full capacity superspreader rallies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-vgML6gZGw

Let's not forget his dozens of tweets spreading anti-vaccination viewpoints.

https://www.psypost.org/2020/04/new-study-finds-trumps-tweets-intensify-anti-vaccine-attitudes-among-his-supporters-56359

There was also the astonishing revelation that he knew that Covid was way worse than the flu weeks before he admitted it publicly but kept publicly claiming it was just the flu.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPoFf78XHQo

And we also can't forget to note that he deliberately slowed down testing because when you test...cases appear. And he didn't want the case number to go up because it made his performance look bad.(By the way on this one, note his comment that "I don't kid, let me just tell you, let me make it clear," which means Dr. Bleach Injection wasn't kidding either.) "So, instead of 25 million tests, let's say we did 10 million tests. We'd look like we were doing much better because we'd have far fewer cases. You understand that," " <-Trump...clearly misunderstanding how cause and effect works.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/22/politics/donald-trump-testing-slow-down-response/index.html

We also can't forget that he threatened to withhold aid to blue states who were "mean" to him...and then blamed those same blue states for the staggeringly high death tolls.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/trump-suggests-us-shouldnt-bail-out-democratic-run-states-2020-04-27

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-called-demented-blaming-blue-states-coronavirus-death/story?id=73073793

And his daily press briefings got so bad and unfocused that Republicans urged them to stop...for things like announcing the CDC mask recommendations but then saying in the same breath that he himself wouldn't be following it.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/controversial-moments-led-trump-stop-white-house-coronavirus/story?id=71899110

There was also his "Liberate Michigan" tweet that inspired his followers to storm the state capital building (that sounds familiar somehow...) and inspired an attempted kidnapping and possible assassination plot of the Governor who wasn't doing what he told her to do. (That also sounds familiar...something about Mike Pence.)

Last, but as always not least with Trump, there's the casual racism that causes Asian hate crimes to rise due to hearwarming phrases like "Kung flu".

I think we would have a laundry list of mistakes regardless of who was the POTUS at the time.

I don't give Trump high marks.  But I doubt Obama, Clinton, Bush, etc would have done any better.

The people who facilitated the rapid development of the vaccines and the front line workers are the only heroes of this pandemic.  The talking heads, gov't or media, were pretty much useless.  Sometimes, all they did was add to the confusion.

I think to make the argument you're trying to make you need to argue that any of the presidents you listed would have done all of the things that I documented. (Or equally bad things)

It's possible that you're correct, but I think it unlikely that, for example, any of Presidents Obama, Clinton or Bush would have had a nationally broadcast press conference where they suggested people inject bleach to cure their Covid problem. Or that any of them would, in the exact same breath, announce the new CDC recommendation of wearing masks and then state that they themselves would not follow the recommendation of their own CDC.

Just for example. I simply think that none of them would do those things.

Nor do I.  But they too would have made mistakes and said some stupid shit.  Although none of them could top that bleach comment.

None of H.W. Bush, Clinton, GWB, or Obama would have continually spread false and misleading information the way that Trump did.

Obama literally created a task force in order to counter something like Covid, with him and his predecessors each warning that a pandemic could easily be around the corner. And, well, the picture says it pretty bluntly.

When H1N1 hit in '09, Obama's big plan to combat it was to tell everyone to wash their hands.

And a flu shot for it was made as well, with those most at risk heavily advised to get vaccinated.

Damnit!

I was a “Obama Covid 19 playbook” mention away from hitting bingo!

I honestly think he should refer to himself as, “The Fauci…”

"If you are trying to get at me as a public health official and a scientist, you're really attacking not only Dr. Anthony Fauci, you're attacking science,"

I also doubt they would have politicized it.

It was a start. Not a denial. Like Covid, not much was known. He also never said it would magically go away or that we've rounded the corner. Or that it was a hoax being perpetrated by the Lib Media. Nor did the Obama Admin openly favor Blue States over Red States. Not did he go to battle with said Governor's.
