Fauci isn't a bad guy.  He was/is doing the best he can with the information available to him.  You can't blame an epidemiologist for approaching the  problem from an epidemiologists point of view. But when you go from saying "Masks won't help," to, "We should wear two masks," you're going to lose some credibility.

No one really knew what to do, regardless of their position.   Trump probably handled it as well as any other president would have.

Hopefully, the lessons learned will serve us well when the next pandemic hits.

Completely agree with all except the Trump part. I think he did tremendous harm.

That’s how I used to view Fauci until the last few days. Another credibility crusher is his insistence that kids get vaccinated and for them to wear masks outside, right now, and inside around unvaccinated people. Makes zero sense. If someone is pushing for kids to get the vaccine when science says they don’t need to, they’re likely making a lot of money on these vaccines.

He definitely favors the overkill approach.

Well I mean if Tucker said it...

He said the NIH did not approve any use of funds for gain of function research at that lab. That appears to be true and dates back to an Obama administration rule. Just because research dollars were sub contracted out to the WIV does not mean those dollars were used on gain of function research, or if they were, that anybody within the NIH would have known about it or approved of it. He also in the same testimony under oath said he could not rule out gain of function research being the cause of the virus through serial passage or otherwise and it remained an open possibility that should be investigated. That appears to be true. So, no perjury.

Stop listening to Tucker, seriously. The guy has a double digit IQ.

Care to define gain of function research for those who have not looked in depth into this topic?

Yeah, it's easy to QB in hindsight.  So I can't really judge him tooooo much for looking at the pandemic and advising as you would expect him too in his role.  I wish experts in other important fields had been given larger voices in policy decisions around the country.  But again, easy to arm chair QB.  Fauci did an overall good job.  Nobody is perfect.  The mask thing sent a poor message but was still pretty meh.  Outside by the two people he came with.  Whatever.

Book deal thing is just tone deaf, man.

I agree.  I think he also correctly judged the base selfishness of the American people.

They originally discouraged mask use because they wanted to reserve the limited quantity for front line medical workers who were at greater risk.  Have you seen anything in the behavior of John Q Public to think people would have avoided masks so healthcare workers could have them in the beginning?  In retrospect given what has proven to be true would you do anything different in his shoes?

modesto do you know what science is? I'm not being a dick, I'm genuinely curious.

Thanks to AF, I know two masks is better than one.

Again, if Trump wasn’t such a fcking moron...

1) He would’ve put Pence in charge of Covid and ONLY allow the Dr’s to speak.

2) Kept his mouth shut, unless it was to puppet what the Dr’s were saying.

He does those two things, he’s still President.

This is good logic, its hard to argue with it.  But there is a part of me that thinks if Trump would have railed against the lockdowns he might have won.  I know its not fair to expect that of him, no president in my lifetime would have done it, but Trump was always anti esta ligament, that was his whole deal.  So if anyone was going to do it, it was him.  But he tried to have it both ways.

Regardless, Trump was exhausting,  I'm not sad to see him gone.  But Fauci and the rest are dirty too.

How was Fauci "dirty"?

What was his agenda?

So these last tweets bob has posted are the smoking gun to take down Fauci? Don't really see anything here shocking or even wrong. THey have always said there would be immunity after you were infected. What they didn't know was the level or how long it lasted. WHere does that email change that. And as far as masks go that email is also completely consistent with what we've heard since they started telling us to wear masks. It doesn't protect you. It helps protect others by reducing the amount of spittle you float into the air.

Guess I expected more controversy by the amount of headlines and airplay we are getting from these. Hes seems like a pretty good dude just trying the best he can. But somehow he became a bogey man for many on the right.

1) Learning about this Covid was sort of as it progressed, so there was a learning curve

2) trump was such a clown, he screwed things up from the get go with lies & the crap he said like "drinking bleach"

3) Because of the clown show that was the trump administration with no basis of fact or science allowed every moronic quackery theory to run wild

4) The drooling knuckle draggers of Cult45 don't have the cranial capacity to distinguish the lies coming from trump & his media propagandists to make any judgement on how they should handle Covid

5) Why didn't this 1988 Dead Milkmen song BLEACH BOYS get a boost from trump's drinking bleach comment?!?!

Lol you make this shit too easy Convert.. Trumps reasons for lying are justifiable I guess in ConvertWorld.

That’s really cute, but you make this shit way too easy for me. As I’ve said 18 million times, when I only have two choices, Bullshitter lying Trump on stupid things but is completely honest about fulfilling his campaign promises and goes 110% to do so (and they’re policies I mostly agree with) vs. a far left Dem Party that props up marxists and socialism and lies even more than Trump, it’s a no-brainer, son.

As for Fauci, I think even you can see that we have more than two choices to do Fauci’s job.

See, now that’s the rub.  A lot of you loved that the pandemic brought down Trump and reveled in calling him a racist for saying things that weren’t even racist.

He’s corrupt to the core. Read all his emails.

I believe he did the best he could with a very dynamic situation. He did flip flop on a few things, but that usually followed changes by the CDC. I think he did get caught up in the politics of it all, especially when Trump squared up on him and really, who can blame him. I don't think he was anywhere near corrupt, but I think he got wrapped up in the politics of it all.
